Could Trauma or Shock to the Body Cause Gastric Issues?

Dear Dr. Ted, Six months ago I fell down 2 steps onto some ceramic tile and broke my ankle. The following day I had heartburn and now have a constant acidic taste on the tip of my tongue with occasional heartburn and a burning stomach. I have been self treating with Aloe Vera Juice, apples, fruits, vegetables and it does seem to be very slowly getting better. Have you ever heard of such a thing? It was suggested to me that my body experienced a trauma/stress/shock.

Any suggestions as to what I can do to help speed up any internal gastric problems and get my system back to normal? I hope to hear from you soon and God bless you as you help others too!

I'm very interested in your question about acid reflux being possibly connected to trauma. About two months after a toxic syndrome seizure caused by an accidental overdose of an anti-depressant, I began having acid reflux symptoms.... Burning in chest, burping, with symptoms becoming more severe when exercising. I've never had any trouble with reactions to eating any food in my 68 yrs of living. I'd like to add my vote to a question of asking whether trauma /shock to body could be the culprit. Thanks for any input you can give.
