Sinus Pain and Pressure for 60 Days, Please Help

Posted By Bill (Boston, MA) on 09/23/2021

I have had sinus pain and pressure for about 2 months now. I have tried to track the trigger but very difficult. I have no blockage or anything discharging from the mouth or nose yet do not feel dry. I have a humidifier I use and clean regularly. They did a head scan and all is well according to radiology. I try nasal washes with salts and iodine. I have a machine that delivers the fluid into my nasal cavity. I have tried many many sprays including xylitol clear. I take Vit C, D, Zinc, I take oil of oregano pills, and NAC as well. Hot bath I take I mean I have done many things to try to kill this infection. I think it's viral. I do have a near-constant post nasal drip where the sinus mucus drains down the throat. 60 days is a long time and I can't seem to fight this.

Going to ENT doc in a few days not sure what they are going to do. I have not tried ACV yet with the sprayer, that might be my next step/ When you use the neti pot or other fluid delivering devices that solution does not really get into the sinus cavity but only the nose as far as I can tell and this is why the infection is likely present.

I'm listening to any and all solutions.

Madelyn.

I love coconut oil. Where do you apply it topically daily? Please clarify. Sinus cavity on face? Nose? Forehead?

Thank you.

Bill, try Bill Munro's h2o2 inhalations. Or simply put some water in your mouth and squirt some h2o2 (regular brown bottle stuff) into your mouth too and inhale "through" that water 6-7 times (deep breaths without swallowing) and then spit out and rinse. A few times a day of this should help pretty soon, as in a few days.

Have you tried colloidal silver? I have post nasal drip most of my life and find spraying it in my nasal passages a couple times a day helps and also recently started Quercetin/bromelain capsules just 1 a day is really helping! I went to an ent and he was completely useless! And expensive! Good luck!

First of all prayers for you! I deal with HSV1 so to keep that at bay, also flu, shingles, C-19, I take 1,500 mg of L-Lysine on an empty stomach during the night (500 mg) and first thing in the morning (1000 mg). If I get a mouth ulcer or any other virus like symptom I increase the daily dosage for 2 or more days until the symptom disappears and one day beyond that. You will have to work with the amount because your weight matters but I would start with an extra 2000-5000 mg per day when you have symptoms. L-Lysine must be taken on an empty stomach to work.

Additionally, it is a good idea to strengthen your immune system with Vit C 3000 mg, Vit D3 5000 mg, Zinc 22 mg, Quercetin 475 mg, N-Acetyl Cysteine 600 mg. A good idea to follow pkg directions to adjust for your weight. If you are suffering from a virus you should experience relief within several days. If you get no positive results you probably do not have a virus but this regimen can be continued to prevent all types of viruses.

I’m sorry you are frustrated and in pain. I would try daily netipot with your first morning urine and more throughout the day as needed. This book might help you..

One of the main symptoms of the covid variant is pink eye…an eye infection. I once had an eye infection (from a blow) that I only felt in my sinuses. It took a while to heal. It was excruciating in my sinuses when trying to fly from cabin pressure. Just a thought.

keeping you in my prayers.

Have you had an MRI taken? The cause may be a foreign object that got into your sinus cavity without you knowing.

Note: I have used the below protocol and it took me 3 weeks to see results.

Betadine/Povidone Iodine 10% to Treat Sinusitis

Regularly use a twice-daily sinus rinse (I did 3x/daily) with a Nasaline Irrigator and home-made saline. Povidone iodine is a powerful antiseptic and disinfectant. In contact with skin and mucous membranes of the povidone iodine complex gradually releases the active iodine, which works quickly and has a microbicidal effect (causing the death of a broad spectrum of bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoa).

Bacteria Povidone-iodine is a broad spectrum antiseptic for topical application in the treatment and prevention of wound infections. It’s used in hospitals all the time to prevent infections. This… you probably already knew. What you may not have known is that povidone-iodine exhibits long lasting antiseptic effects due to its slow absorption via the soft tissue. This means it’s perfect for fighting bacteria and this is specifically why I thought it would be great in the nose. Use in nasal passages was eventually demonstrated in a study published in 2015.

VirusesStudies have shown that povidone-iodine has an antiviral action while not affecting the cell hosts. In fact, povidone has a very wide virucidal spectrum, covering both enveloped and nonenveloped viruses, such as adeno-, mumps, rota-, polio- (types 1 and 3), coxsackie-, rhino-, herpes simplex, rubella, measles, influenza, COVID-19 and even the dreaded human immunodeficiency viruses.

Fungus Iodine is a great antifungal. Studies have shown that when povidone-iodine comes into direction contact with fungus, it will kill it and prevent further growth. This is even true for sensitive tissues like the ear. The trick is keeping the iodine on the fungus for more than a few seconds. This is another reason why the slow absorption rate is such a big benefit.

The salt rinse alone is awesome. Salt or salty solutions can draw water out of bacteria through their cell membranes and this dehydration can reduce or prevent the chemical reactions they rely on to live and reproduce. So you can imagine how this might work in your sinus cavities. Adding to that fact, Ear Nose and Throat Specialists say that “when you rinse your nose with this salt water and baking soda mixture, it washes crusts and other debris from your nose. Salt water pulls fluid out of the swollen membranes of your nose. This decongests the nose and improves airflow. Not only does this make breathing easier, it helps open the sinus passages. Studies show that this mixture of concentrated salt water and baking soda (bicarbonate) helps the nose work better and moves mucus out of the nose faster.” That being said, you should know that the kicker in this remedy is the iodine.

NOTE: The more iodine you put in it, the stronger the remedy will be. However, the more iodine you put in, the more likely it will sting when you irrigate. BE CAREFUL! Work your way up to higher doses.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MIXTURE:

  1. Purchase a nasal irrigation kit (I like the Nasopure neti-pot for more control if you want to tilt your head back). This kit will include pre-mixed saline packets (or you could make your own if you wanted to). You want a bottle type irrigation kit if at all possible. The pressure capabilities with the bottle are helpful and a big part of why I believe this works.

  2. Purchase some 10% povidone-iodine (generic is fine) – or go to your first aid closet and get it from there.

  3. Boil some water and let it cool. You can also heat up some distilled water. The point here is to ensure you have clean water without the possibility of contamination from an old pipe or tainted water source. If you boil the water, LET IT COOL. You want the water to be about BODY TEMPERATURE before use. DO NOT USE HOT WATER!

  4. Mix the water and the saline salts into the irrigation bottle first and do so according to the instructions in the kit. Make sure the salts are melted completely.

  5. Put in 1ml PVP-I to every 1oz distilled saline water mixture (example: if you are using a nasopure neti-pot which is 8oz capacity, use 8ml PVP-I to 8oz distilled saline water. I also add 1 teaspoon baking soda as a buffer so the mixture wont sting as bad and also alkalines the mucus membranes). Shake for a good mixture. The water will turn a redish color. This is normal.

NOTE: The more iodine you put in it, the stronger the remedy will be. However, the more iodine you put in, the more likely it will sting when you irrigate. BE CAREFUL! Work your way up to higher doses.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

  1. Stand over the sink or in the shower and squirt the PVP-I/Saltwater into each side of your nose. Aim the stream toward the back of your head, NOT the top of your head. This lets you spit some of the saltwater out of your mouth.

  2. The first time you do this, it may be uncomfortable. The first few times I did it, it was for me. Some people will notice a mild burning feeling the first few times they use the mixture. This usually goes away in a few days and you learn to love it.

  3. Plan to rinse the nose with the mixture 2 to 3 times each day and do so for no less than three days after your symptoms have gone away.

  4. Depending upon the severity of the infection, up to a solid week of treatment (2-3 times per day) may be necessary before symptoms subside. If the infection is not yet well entrenched, you may feel remarkably better after only 1-2 days. Continue using the remedy 10 - 14 days after symptoms disappear for the same reason you would continue a course of antibiotics even though you feel back to normal -- to ensure that all bacteria are destroyed. Since being handed this cure, I have had no need for antibiotics or surgery.

I had the same issue and found articles on adding a drop of baby shampoo to saline solution (Breaks through the biofilm). Worked great for me. Also, hydrogen peroxide on cotton ball into ear canal, flush out. Hope this helps you as well as it did me!

I was told by a specialist years ago to use 1/4 tsp bicarb to 25mls of water in a pump spray bottle up the nose twice a day. I now add this to colloidal silver and use them twice a day. Bicarb turns mucus to water. I am also using Black Oxygen Organics in a spray bottle up the nose twice a day. This is antiviral and I take Lysine too. I have the same issue with HSV in my sinus cavity but I have come to the conclusion that the low grade infection, is from infected teeth cavitations where bits of a tooth remained after extraction. Make sure your mouth, teeth and gums aren't spurring an infection. If nothing else is working, there's a specific enzyme you can get that digests mucus in the sinus and lungs. It's called Seaprose-S and it's pretty amazing.

@ Ed from Pennsylvania, you apply it topically over the areas where you feel sinus pain. I pretty much covered my face and temple area in coconut oil, and let it soak in. I also did oil pulling with coconut oil, which is basically just swishing the oil around in your mouth and through the teeth for several minutes. Spit in trash and then clean your mouth by rinsing with salt water. Last, eat a spoonful and allow it to melt down your throat. If you have a sinus infection, try eating a spoon of it a few times a day.

Try taking serrapeptase, my sister had bad cases of sinusitis and allergies and got so much better with it. I reduced my allergies by strengthening my sinuses too.

I am all about natural...but in this case I would do this:

Afrin 12 hr, 2 sprays up each nose hole with head tipped back, lay down after and wait for the swelling to go down5-30 minutes, then get up and use nettipot with 1 cup cool water and 1 teaspoon baking soda (sodium bicarbonate). Lean your head deep into the sink and wash out those nasal passages/sinuses very well. Now wait 30 minutes to an hour and use a nasal mister (Walmart saline nasal spray) with the saline poured out and 50/50 hydrogen peroxide and water put into the spay bottle. Quickly spray 3 sprays up each nostril (YES! IT HURTS!! ) and expect the rush of stinging/burning...think of it as burning that virus/bacteria/fungus/etc out of there (it does). Now, final step, use another saline sprayer filled wit ionic silver water and spray 3 sprays up each nostril and lay down on your back. Do this morning and night for 2 days and you should be good to go, if not, avoid the Afrin for a couple days but keep doing the cool nettipot with baking soda and the H2O2/silver sprays. By 2-3 days there will are usually amazing results if you can handle doing this. If you have any history of Afrin abuse and dependence or health issues that disallow the use of Afrin, use cold water nettipot with baking soda to shrink the sinus tissues, it takes a while, but just sit there and let the cold water (very cold water) trickle in until it shrinks the nasal passages. Icing the face/nose can also shrink those nasal passages too or just going outside and breathing cold winter air. Just do as you must to get the baking soda water and afterward the H2O2 and Silver sprays up there to do the work. You will see results. Be persistent.

Happy Healing. :)

From personal experience, what can help is trying to reduce peanuts, wheat, processed cheese, milk from diet. Also introduce digestive enzymes and HCL supplements with every meal.
