Mother With Central Spinal Stenosis and Neuropathy in Legs

Central Spinal Stenosis

On 14th March last year, my Mother, who was then 69, woke up in agony from pain in her lower back which was also travelling down into her leg.
GP was called as Mum was diagnosed with sciatica and prescribed anti inflammatories and pain killers.

The pain never subsided, she decided to confine herself to her bed upstairs as it was too painful and too difficult to manage the stairs(my Dad had to lift her up each step and he's 76) In time she was advised by a specialist that she had narrowing of the spine that was trapping a nerve and causing the pain/weakness in her legs.

She was operated on in June 2016. Her recovery was painfully slow and her appetite faded away to nothing. A scan also unearthed cancer in her left lung which required radiotherapy.

Mum got out of hospital 2nd week in September.

Her appetite is still poor and she can only walk when using a frame, for a few steps.

The surgeon considered the operation a success yet her mobility has not improved, the strength has not returned to her legs.

I should also add that she had peripheral neuropathy in her feet before this happened which has now travelled up to both knees and one foot is going numb. The surgeon said this might happen.

If the operation went ok and the trapped nerve was freed, I don't understand why the strength hasn't returned to my Mum's legs, even accounting for the months she lay in bed.

Is it still the result of the trapped nerve or the peripheral neuropathy?

Any advice appreciated.

Gareth. We have had many spine issues and nueropathy. For numbness and restless leg we have found vitamin d3 10,000iu in am with selenium yeast 200mcg and k2 200mg to be the most benefit. But you live in Europe which makes getting supplements difficult. You can try Intralabs online or amazon or ebay. There is more than one way to do this though. First to aleviate the pain a castor oil pack. A 4 x folded piece of flannel or cotton. 1 bottle of castor oil Dmso Magnesium oil...sold for spas it comes as flakes. 60 % flakes in 1 clean jar add 40% clean water. Let sit 1 hour shake you now have magnesium oil. This can be taken in drop5 2x a day in water and drink and a tsp added to your pack. 1 resealable plastic bag large enough to hold flannel. Fold flannel to fit her back pain. Put in bag pour in castor oil pull it out squeezing excess back into the bag. Lay it out. Add mag oil and dmso a capful. Lay her on an old towel or cloth to prevent staining. Wash her back as dmso takes everthing through the skin. Lay pack on it cover that with platic wrap add a towel and a low heat heating pad. Let that sit 20minutes or longer. When done store the pack in the bag and can be refreashed and reused at least 12 times. If you do not have or cannot get the ingredients..you can do other things. She is most likely very low on magnesium the oil applied to skin will help or to bottom of feet at bedtime. It stings if you need it to reduce sting add water or more mag oil. Once levels rise stinging stops. Epsom salt baths with 1 cup hydrogen peroxide to oxygenate the blood can really give relief. If she cannot get in tub..mix up in a bucket soak her feet...or if nothing else towels soaked can provide relief applied to pain areas. Ted here on earth clinic says spine disorders are most likely viral in nature and we treated accordingly. Lavender essential oil applied to spine can kill these viruses. We did it a few x a day. The oral anti viral is 4 hourly doses of 1000mg of l lysine with 500mg of l threonine add 500 mg of vitamin c a pinch of baking soda not powder sodium bicarbonate. We also add methylene blue from aqarium suppliers. It comes as a powder in a jar add water to almost the top shake carefully. To dropper bottle using the dropper add 1 % of that that to 99% clean water. Use 3 to 5 drops in the first lysine mix.this stsins so do on a glass plate. If you do get it on something vitamin in water or citrus cleaer takes it away. Open capsules or buy powders. I mix up 4 doses at once using a water bottle and mark 4 equal doses. And take accordingly. At least 5 days. We also mix up hyaluronic acid 10 capsule in blender with8 oz of water and 1/4 tsp salt. Put in jar. Store in frig. It puts the juice back in joints and spine. It is expensive here but something you might consider. Put a tbsp in 1/2 glass of water to take internally. Apply liberally to pained areas. 2x a day she should have 1/2 tsp of baking soda in water. This will improve digestion keep her body alkaline improve sleep. I prefer to react mine with 1 wole lemon or lime.let fizz and add 1/2 glass of water drink. Another is 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar reacted with baking soda 1/2 glass of water..this is also pain relief . Tumeric with black pepper is another good pain relief supplement. Grape seed extract has 2 benefits it improves circulation and reduces pain. Here is my advice...do one thing at a time. Do not try to do all of this at once. Or let this long chunk of information overwhelm you. If you only have lysine magnesium oil and lavender oil start there and add to perfect your remedies. I wrote all of it out to give you options. So if you cannot get one there is another to try. To trully get well it take time but you should see results in 3 days. It is important to at least do some baking soda. Dietarily it could help if she ate organically avoids grains drinking some green tea or black tea can further her healing. Better even if you have a wine making shop buy tannic acid powder. 1/4 tsp in water or a drink to diminish the taste will also help any infection. No aspertame no vegetable oils...butter or coconut oil only..no msg..beef is hard to digest maybe chicken and broth with some veggies. Janet
