Sounds to me like you might be severely deficient in iodine. Check into daily supplementation of lugol's or potassium iodide.
Have you had your thyroid checked?

Liver disease is also a common cause of scalp conditions. An herbal combination of Milk Thistle/Turmeric/Artichoke is advised, as well as reviewing any possible toxicity issues from otc or prescription meds like statins or pain meds like acetaminophen.Replied by Sharon (Tennessee) on 10/08/2015
Since I was a teenager, I've had problems with itchy scalp and sores on it until I discovered T-Gel X strength shampoo. Leave it in at least 5 minutes. As long as I use that every week or so, no itching. Tea Tree Shampoo can help as well, although it may or may not work as well. But Tea Tree is much better for your skin.
Also, the more junk I put into my hair, the quicker my scalp itches. Mouse, root lifter, heavy conditioners....
Good luck!
