Why Does Breathing Through Mouth During Asthma Attack Cause Cough & Phlegm?

Posted By Rita (California) on 07/24/2016

Hello,

Does anyone have an answer to this question regarding Asthma?

When my husband gets an asthma attack if he breathes though his nose he doesn't wheeze or cough. But when he breathes through his mouth he wheezes and coughs up phlegm?

Does anyone know why this happens?
