Bone Fragments Left in Gums After Tooth Pulled

Posted By Hisjewel (America, New York) on 09/01/2016

My mother had her tooth pulled about two years ago. She is still getting bone fragments. These bones fragments make it painful to use her dentures. She has tried creams and pads the dentures still leave her gums sore if she eats with them.

She went back to the dentist and let them go back in the gum to try to smooth any sharp bones the could see, but this did not work.

How can this bone fragment problem be helped or fixed? I do hope some one has gotten relief of this problem and is willing to share their remedy.

Thank you,

HisJewel

I had same thing years ago. Eventually they came to surface and I pulled them out myself.

Hi Suseeq,

Yes, some people get rid of those bone fragments quickly. Mom was also able to pull most up, then there seemed to be a stubborn sharp bone, just beneath her gum that would not come up.

The dentist went back in to smooth the sharp bone, and it seemed just to start more trouble.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Regarding my Mother's sore gums and tooth pull, that should read Teeth. She had at least four or five teeth pulled at a close timing.

Hisjewel, I would put clay packs on it nightly and sleep with it.

Thanks Mmsg,

How are clay packs made? Can they be bought already prepared?

Just wet some clay, wet a cut out piece of thin cloth or a cut out square of coffee filter. Wrap the clay inside and put it on wherever you need it. If you can, leave it overnight. If not, apply it for as long as you can, as often as you can. Do not reuse same pack.

It sounds so easy Mmsg.

I did not see your reply until just now. So I did some research early yesterday. Everything was over my head.

Coffee filters are very easy to get a hold to. My mother had a bad night with those sore gums last night so I thought I check recent Post again. I still by passed your post. I saw my original post and clicked on it, there I saw your reply.

Thanks Again

Dear Hisjewel,

Regarding clay drawing things out...

Yesterday a friend called. She had had a fall and had some gravel embedded into her palm. I had her put some french green clay on the palm. By evening the gravel was out. She just added enough water to make a paste.

I love how this worked so well and likely prevented infection for her as well.

Of course, for your mother, it may take a number of applications before the fragments are drawn out if they are in deep.

Mother To Many,

Thank you so much.

This sounds like a confirmation to use clay. Mother will be so happy when she can finally eat with without pain.

Just in case your are wondering if mom did the clay thing, no she did not. I was sure she be happy, it sound easy enough.

She said she wasn"t putting clay in her mouth. I guess she feels clay is not dough. She has has tried a few things I suggested but not this. She is 87 and her bones are not strong. So she is still dealing with this sore gum issue.

At her age I'm sure Mom has heard of pulling salve, poultices? Explain it's a pulling agent. If that doesn't help, maybe try essential oil of clove. Dentists have used clove for ages. Taste strong but it helps with pain. Maybe dilute it with another oil. Good luck. And I'm on the hunt for some of this clay. My 2 recently pulled teeth are hurting bad, due to fragments coming to the surface. Since I can't use my favorite pulling salve, I'm going to get some of this clay.
