Are my cold and cough due to allergies

I am not certain if the cold and cough that I have are due to allergies.

It started with a sore throat last Saturday then a dry cough on Sunday. I tried drinking ginger tea for the sore throat and ACV for the cough. By Monday I lost my voice and I still have a mild sore throat and a dry cough so I took Strepsils lozenges. I had a hard time sleeping that night due to the itch in my throat that made me cough. When I woke up yesterday, I'm already sneezing and clear mucus dripped down my right nostril. I took an over-the-counter cold medicine and the dripping intensified. Today, I still have itchy throat, dry cough, sneeze a lot, and a dripping nose. The sneezing and itchy throat made me think that the cough and cold are caused by dust mite allergy. I need something that can treat my ailments. Can you help me?

Dear Billy,

Since it came on suddenly it seems more likely a cold than allergies. However, there are several natural things that would help both.

I would try vitamin c first. 1, 000 mg every hour or two. If it should begin to get diarrhea from it, reduce the frequency.

Also, try hot vinegar tea. 1 Tablespoon each honey and raw apple cider vinegar in a mug of hot water twice a day.

Putting peroxide in your ears a couple of times a day may also be helpful.

I hope you feel better soon!

Hi Mama to Many!

I went back to the doctor for a check-up and was diagnosed for allergic rhinitis and colds. I still gets this kind of cold from time to time although I was already prescribed 1000 mg vitamin C daily and anti-histamine for bad attacks. It's been a long time since I checked here and I'm glad that I did.

I'm wondering why the peroxide for the ears? Thanks!
