Bluesky from Wellington: Can't report on reactions to nit shampoos at all as I've ceased buying any of that commercial stuff - natural or not - the nits (eggs) and lice seem to become immune to things like this. Why don't you try rubbing coconut oil through your/childrens hair and leaving it overnight. This suffocates the nits and lice. Also putting a drop of tea tree oil into the coconut oil when it's melted will go a long way towards deterring them.
But if you get a throbbing headache from your current nit shampoo, then I'd suggest stopping that altogether. There are plenty of other remedies that don't cost a lot of money - and they're usually in the pantry!

Hi Bluesky, At an event last year I spoke with a natropath and she had treated a child for reactions (including bad headache) to a "natural nit shampoo". It was labeled natural not organic and they found the child had reacted to a chemical in the product, which apparently met the natural guidelines. Unfortunatly not all ingredients have to be listed. With your reactions throw it out. As Cat said try some home remedies or another brand.
