Try " rhodiola ", this stuff is awesome, DOSAGE is really important :
-On low dose or high dose it can act as a sedative substance.
-On moderate dose it is effective to reduce or whipe out the anxiety and depression and makes a person motivated and energized, I speak from different experiences .
-the effectiveness of rhidiola is due to its rosavin content, if it's 3% the moderate dose will be something about 180mg % per day, you got to try it yourself to figure this out, start from there and work your way up to find your personal working dose.
As a side note : if it doesn't help you, you still havent wasted your money, it's a very effective adaptogen, it will still stregthen your body with no side effects, it's 100 % herb .
If it didnt work try ashwagandha ( indian ginseng ), with the same above recomendations, still got to find the dose.
ONE IMPORTANT THING : you better off not to take these two herbs, belonging to the same group of adaptogens, together ."
I hope it helps you out, I understand how debiliating it is to live with anxiety .

I am wondering what you have tried so far?
I am also wondering about your age - is this possibly menopause related?

What helps me when anxiety hits is exercise, extra magnesium and liquid b complex formula. I recently discovered that B complex helps me immensely when I take it within an hour or so. Also, I take an herbal formula that helps regulate hormones. I particularly need it directly after my period ends. For some reason, my anxiety kicks up considerably 2 days after it ends and the herbs help considerably.

I want to thank those of you who replied to my request for help with anxiety.Charity: You made a comment about change of seasons and that hit home. We are not only changing seasons but have changed time. I wondered about that. You also mentioned being traumatized as a child. I have been having these anxiety attacks for 40 years. My first child was born at 6 1/2 months, weighing 2lbs 4 oz. There was so much trauma with that for a whole year. I do think I was about ready for a nervous breakdown. Praise God, he's well and perfect. When I got pregnant the second time was when the panic attacks started...the dr told me that the trauma from the first pregnancy was still in my brain.
Mama to Many: I'm using liquid B complex and liquid B12 and extra magnesium. We eat a pretty healthy diet. I'm going to be 70 soon, so I doubt it has anything to do with menopause, but I am getting hot flashes at night with this anxiety. I did happen to think though, I started taking some Royal Jelly and bee pollen and I wonder if that could be messing with my hormones.
Kasra: I think I have some Rhodiola in my cabinet. I also have ashwagandha tincture. I may give one of those a try.
Marilyn: thanks for your input. What herbs are in the formula you use?
One more interesting event. Since I have the anxiety, I don't feel like eating. My husband and I have been trying to give up the fast food/pop and we've been doing a good job of it. However, yesterday he took me out for a ride to help me relax and we stopped at Wendy's for lunch. I could only eat a half of a burger and I didn't get any pop. He, however, got a coke. I ended up having a little bit of it and I got better after that. I was fine all afternoon, so I had a little bit more in the evening and I was felt PERFECTLY fine, no anxiety at all. I slept pretty good and woke up this morning with some anxiety. Had a few sips of pepsi and it worked again. So what's the deal with that?
Thanks again everyone. It's always a good thing to get the support and know you are not alone. This anxiety thing is a real puzzle.

Get your blood sugar checked. My wife used to have anxiety attacks all the time until she got her blood sugar under better control.Replied by Kim (Sc) on 03/23/2018
Good morning Jan,If the soda pop helped you in the morning when you were feeling anxious, it sounds like your blood sugar may be low. Low blood sugar causes jitters, nervousness, rapid heart rate, and at night causes night sweats, and nightmares.

Having candida issues, I find whenever I try to quit any habit the withdrawals affect me...like your coke....so you take a bit and the withdrawal like symptoms ease up. I usually add and decrease all things slowly to keep these symptoms to a lesser degree. Adding borax in foot soaks since august has changed my life and usually the day after is painful, then I get healthier until the day after the next soak and more pain. Getting better all the time. Sorry you had the baby trauma....glad he is a healthy adult .Replied by Marilyn (Ny, Ny) on 03/23/2018
Hi Jan, the herbal combination that I take contains red raspberry leaves, blessed thistle, dong quai, queen of the meadow leaves, marshmallow root, lobelia and black cohosh. I take it infrequently, as needed. I usually feel better a few hours after taking 2 capsules.Replied by Mama To Many (Tn) on 03/23/2018
Dear Jan,You have gotten many great suggestions; hopefully some combination is going to help you!
I will mention Motherwort - it is an herb used for anxiety that is common with menopause (thus I asked about your age.) It also helps with heart palpitations and hot flashes. Given that you are having some hot flashes, maybe it would help. It helps me with all of those things - hot flashes, heart racing, and anxiety, all of which seem to be connected. I use Motherwort tincture, 1 dropperful. Once a day is usually enough but sometimes I take it again if needed.
Is low blood sugar a possibility? The fact that soda pop has helped makes me wonder if it is a blood sugar issue. Certainly low sugar can cause anxiety.
Let us know what works for you!

Mama to Many...Thank you so much for your interest and suggestions. I started taking some Schisandra today. I thought perhaps an adaptogen would be helpful. After reading up on Motherwort, it seems like it would be a good fit. I do also have that in tincture form and I will start that instead tomorrow. Can you still have menopausal symptoms when you are almost 70? I eat pretty healthy so I'm not sure about the blood sugar. I definitely will keep it in mind. The pop thing is strange...perhaps it was the caffeine that helped and not the sugar.....who knows? Again, thank you so much for taking the time. I'll keep you posted.
