Advice needed for swollen glands tonsils

Posted By Lynley (Auckland, New Zealand) on 08/03/2011

Hi There,

Just wondering if you can please give me some advice... I have a daughter was recently sick in bed for a week with sore throat / tonsils, glands up & flu like syptoms. Two weeks on although she is feeling somewhat better her tonsils are still huge (to the point where it's actually effecting her breathing) & glands in her neck (one side in particular) are still swollen. Oil pulling with coconut oil helped initally but has not got rid of the problem all together. She also takes 1 teaspoon of ACV with lemon juice & vit C daily.... does anyone have anyother ideas on what to try...

Thanks Heaps, Lynley

take her to the doctor asap. The doctor may or may not give her antibiotics (my mother is a doctor and I'm just going by what I've heard her prescribe), but you need a prescription for antibiotics, plus you shouldn't mess around with things like this. I actually saw a friend of mine die when I was 13 (I'm 32 now). Her parents refused to take her to the doctor and just kept messing around with home remedies until they found her dead in her room. Take your daughter to the doctor ASAP. God bless you and best of luck to you.

Hi Lynley, Good old fashioned Cod Liver Oil (well maybe not the old horrible tasting one). It has always been good particularly for the mucus membranes and tonsils. You could also look at a combination of echinacea and astragulas to help build her resistance up again, I had far better success with the liquid extracts of these two rather than tablets. We have also found the herbs Tulsi, Arjunna and Neem together to be fantastic, especially the first two for the chest, we take them in capsule form. All the best, Maria

Hello again, I forgot to mention check EC for Lysine with Vit C and Aspirin as they are great at treating viruses. Just do a search for lysine and vit c and you will see the feedback for them. Also Ted's flu remedy https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/flu.html#TED

I suffered with " swollen glands " for my entire childhood. I was given every sort of antibiotics for all those years with little if any effect. I moved out on my own when I was 17 years old.

I had another episode of swollen glands with fevers and such. I popped into a local doctor in some small town in Wyoming. This doctor gace me a quick examinatation and told me I had the worst case of tonsilitis he had ever seen. He, then and there: had me sit in a chair very much like a dentist`s chair. He administered some novacaine and removed my tonsils and adenoids. He was an old time doctor, diagnosed the problem, Knew what to do to solve the problem and did it all in one visit. This SOLVED this swollen glands problem I had suffered my entire childhood with. Other than the pain associated with this surgery [ about 2 weeks ], I never suffered any ill effects. I NEVER, EVER, had " swollen glands "again. I do wonder what is being taught in medical school these days. How I could have seen these different doctors and been presribed these antibiotics for all those years and not a one of them could see that I needed my tonsils removed along with the adenoids is a mystery to me.

What do they do nowdays: Hand a doctor a PHYSCISIONS DESK REFERENCE and give them an MD certificate ? Yes, I am being a bit sarcastic, but still, I do wonder at times....Oscar

Linley, your daughter needs to go to a doctor, tonsilitus can cause organ damage if left to its own devices. Lily.
