Advice needed for child w very slow development and spasms

Posted By Maria (Seven Hills, Oh) on 01/02/2012

My cousin lives in Greece and his little girl swallowed meconium at birth. She was born limp and suffered seizures/spasms almost immediately. She is now one and a half. She just recently started moving her arms and laughing. She cannot speak, sit up or move her legs. She is on medication for the spasms but her last one was a few months ago. There are not many options and I was hoping for some suggestions. Thank you.

Hi, Take a look at Jim Humble and MMS, you may get some help there.

Hi Maria, When meconium is passed before birth it is because the baby is stressed and usually there is a lack of oxygen to baby (you probably already know this). I don't know much about this but I would be using some magnesium oil to massage her 5-10 mins before bathing. But try a trial patch on her skin first and only for a couple of mins. Or just put some magnesium chloride or epsom salts in her bath water.

The other thing for them to check out is Cerebral Palsy which could have been caused if there was a lack of oxygen. It probably isn't this but would be worth checking out because, if it is, the earlier therapy starts the better. All the best in finding some answers for this precious little one.
