Acid Taste in the Mouth

hello there! I am 32yrs old male and this is my first time here. My story is about a little heartburn that occured last feb when me and my cousins drank alot of alcohol for three nights. After few days I started to have a mild heartburn and so I took Prilosec for two weeks. The heartburn went away but I started to have this acid taste in my mouth. I went to my GP and she said I have gerd so she put me back on prilosec. I started taking it. After two weeks I noticed some side effects. Muscle twiching, anxiety (which I never had before), insomnia, lack of concentration, eyes burning, tongue burning, night sweats, weight loss, diarhea. I don't know if that was because of the prilosec or I just scared the hell outta myself when I did a research on GERD/Acid reflux. I stopped taking prilosec because of the side effects and I felt a little better. But the acid taste never went away. I went back to my GP and she put me on Protonix which I took about 2weeks and stopped becacuse it wasnt helping. Finally my Gp decided to refer me to a GI. I went to see him last month. He just let me talk about how I feel and symptoms etc and then checked my tummy (by pressing on it). He concluded that I do have a little acid reflux and said I dont need any prescription meds. He just advised me to take zantac 150mg twice a day. So I listened to him and took zantac which didnt helped either so I stopped. Went to another GI and he basically did the same thing as my other GI and said am fine. He put me on Protonix 40mg daily. I took protonix 40mg and it made me feel a little ill and wasnt helping with the acid taste in mouth. So I stopped again. I don't get heartburn, no trouble swallowing food, my stomach doesnt burn after I eat, bowel movements are fine most of the time (depending on what I ate). just occassional mild pain in the lower left side right under my rib but it doesnt lasts.

lately I just noticed my stool smells foul and I feel like am not digesting food fast enough. Lets say I ate breakfast in the morning around 9am and if I burp around 2pm I can still taste the food that I ate in the morning. Feels like food just sits there. And sometimes it feels like something stuck in my throat but not all the time. I gave up my bad habits (drinking and smoking, no sodas, no fast foods etc) and I lost 15lbs since feb. Is this normal?

i have read alot of remedies on this wonderful site. I started taking 1/4ts baking soda and 1/2 cup water twice a day and ACV 1tablespoon with each meal, using baking soda as mouthwash (which helps for few minutes) but I don't see any difference.

am I doing it wrong? I mean am taking baking soda and ACV everyday. please help! Am so desperate. Its affecting my whole life :( :(

thanks in advance.

Xibole747, the histamine 2 antagonist like Zantac are notorious for promoting the overgrowth of Candida fungus, although I am not certain about the proton pump inhibitors like Prilosec (search this for yourself). So you could have a Candida infection going on, in which case include Garlic and Cinnamon in your diet or supplement. Also take some probiotic supplements. The amino acid L-Glutamine is also beneficial for the immune system in the gut. Since alcohol is highly toxic to the Pancreas, there could be some inflammation there (which would explain the pain and indigestion); in which case supplement Digestive Enzymes and eat lots of Pineapple.

Hope this helps and good luck.
