A friend has terrible acne

A friend of mine has terrible (TERRIBLE) acne all across his face, neck, shoulders, and back. Its not worms. He cannot take any sort of med because it will mess up the growth plates where his arm was operated on a few years ago. I am currently in the process of compiling a treatment for him based on organic and alternative medicines (cleansing him from the inside out. )Do you have any advice for a facial / skin mask? I'm getting into nutritional therapy, so this stuff fascinates me.

Maeryn, If alternative and nutritional therapy are of interest to you, I would highly recommend watching David Wolfe, Daniel Vitalis, Gabriel Cousens on youtube which will lead you to other amazing people pioneering this field. There are internet shows you can subscribe too as well that are incredibly informative as well. This is info that wasn't easy to find before. I love, love, love it! Hope this helps. Lisa

Hi Dj,

His parents gave him over-active oil glads, and huge pores. He does cardio regularly, but he also showers often. I am certainly looking into organic cleansers. epsom salts...I will find a soft bristle brush for his skin while he's bathing. I'd rather a brush because its more direct vs a loofah or a sponge.

I will also be setting up an ideal cleansing diet for him, all over... for the colon and liver, kidneys, digestive trackt...everything. so that should help since he doesn't eat properly.based around fruits and veggies. complex carbs. regarding meats: organic eggs, soy milk (maybe), fish, chicken. (id rather not the red meats for him..lets cut out the chemicals!!!)

with more research, I'm going to conjure up an ideal skin mask with charcoal he can use every night. (until the acne is controllable, or disappeared, he will only have to use it once or twice a week)

magnesium and potassium supplements sound great! Although having him on lots of vitamins is ideal, I'm a little iffy in case he may react to a certain vitamin or mineral...so, yes...use only a few supplements at a time for recording measures sounds excellent :)

What is Oil pulling and ACV?

Definetly on the Castor Oil. I've been hearing nothing but good reviews about it. if its not covered in acne, its scarred.

He also has gigantic cysts under his skin too...any ideas for those?

I'm also looking at Borax instead of soap, and mixing some of the Borax into some organic shampoo or homemade shampoo recipe.

did some quick research on your acidophilus and it sounds great :) I will keep that in mind...
I think these ideas are slowly forming :D thanks for your ideas ^_^

Hello Maeryn from Calgary, Ab,

First may I suggest that you research potassium iodide and pull up the reference from Tahoma Clinic which is written by Dr. Jonathan Wright, which you can print out to keep handy for reference to it. According to everything I have read on this about the only contraindication I have seen for potassium iodide is an allergy to iodine or to shellfish. Since iodine is required for your thyroid to function (along with other parts of our anatomy), I don't classify this as a medicine, but rather a necessity for health the same as sodium, calcium, potassium, selenium and all the vitamins and minerals. Let's not forget another very important mineral that most of us are said to be low on these days - magnesium. Read about the transdermal method in EC (and read Deirdre's personal experience and the source she found for magnesium chloride). IMVA also has some interesting reading on this. If you have Dollar Tree's or Deal's where you live, a 2 lb box of Epsom Salts (magnesium sulfate) is $l and I love the way putting about a pound of it in my bath water makes me feel after a day of working outside.

Next, I have a question. Did he develop this severe acne before or after all the antibiotics before and/or after the surgery? If the answer is before, but much more severe after the surgery or developed after the surgery, then the alternative doctor mentioned above has the theory that we should look to our digestive trace when we develop skin problems such as acne and rosacea. This seems to make sense, thus if the problem is decrease in producing hydrochloric acid in the stomach, then a couple of drops of SSKI (saturated solution of potassium iodide) or Lugol's solution, which is pretty much the same formula aids the stomach in producing the needed HCl acid. Another consideration is the lack of the good guys in the colon being killed off by antibiotics, which calls for Probiotics to replace them. You can either purchase Probiotics or make your own by pulling recipes for cultured cabbage or the Asian's Kimchi off the internet. The cultured cabbage isn't the best tasting stuff in the world but it is supposed to be great for replacing the good guys in the gut. Also suggest Vitamin D3 5000 IU's daily.

As for the topical stuff, there are all kinds of things to try mixing for a facial or ointment beginning with bentonite clay, ACV, olive oil, mineral oil, castor oil, coconut oil, honey, cucumbers, buttermilk, etc. but you can also put a few drops of SSKI/Lugol's solution in your concoction. You might try one mixture for 2 weeks and if no sign of improvement vary your formula a little bit and give it a 2 week trial and please keep your trials/formulas written down so you can share with EC on which ones worked the best.

Another thought, too. Have you heard about the "Chicago Face Lift"? Several years back folks with hemorrhoids couldn't find Preparation H ointment because it seems someone in Chicago started a fad of using it for their face. Funny, but after all they advertise that it shrinks swollen membranes and smooths. The next time you go to the pharmacy look at the ingredients - it's been awhile since I did but I think it listed shark oil among other things which should be an excellent source of vitamin A and vitamins A & D are two very healing ones. In fact the best hemorrhoidal suppositories I ever found was A&D Hemorrhoid Suppositories which disappeared from the market 15 or more years ago (probably because they were so effective that orthodox medicine was losing a lot of money). If you find nothing obnoxious (drugs) in the current Prep H, you might take a shortcut and use it for a base for your concoctions.

To Joyce in TN,,I really liked your suggestion for the face creams with the preparation h,,I plan on using it with some cocunut oil,,I was reading on here that a little VCO under the eyes takes away the shadows,,I have used it three times and it is lighter,,but a little green pea size just melts and runs every where,,so i'm going to mix the two,,,we'll see what happens,,,Merryanne in FL

Sounds like your doing some good things,,,For cyst you might want to use turmeric,,,or eat a lot of garlic, both help heal and clear up internal infection,,there is good information listed in EC files. When I use Borax powder I run it threw my coffee grinder and make it powder,,it mixes and melts great, and I use it all over with my shower gel about three times a week. Be sure and read the files on boils, and files on garlic, and turmeric these are very good and I eat some every day. if you have never cooked with turmeric you are in for a treat,,I plan some surprises this coming holidays with it. My son had substantial face and back acne and we had tried everything. Suddenly it disappeared and his face is literally glowing.

He told me he had started taking panthotenic acid (Vitamin B5) a couple of weeks ago... it's miraculous.

To the preparation H poster - Prep. H is no longer available in the US containing that ingredient, they've changed the active ingredienti in it as a result of that, but the original effective formula is still available in Canada.

To the poster with the friend with several spots all over his body and recent arm sugery, all I could think of reading your post was "Baking soda". Have your friend drink baking soda in water twice a day while doing any other remedies interested.
