For heart and artery health, look into nattokinase and vitamin K2 (MK7 form is preferred).
You need to inform yourself about all the lies and myths surrounding heart disease. Questions about cholesterol get repeated here over and over.

But if you are still concerned and you want to improve your condition, try supplementing the following nutrients:
Niacin: 500 mgs taken 3 times a day with meals. If the niacin flush bothers you, then taken plain aspirin 20 mins every time before you take the niacin. Has to be the niacin form and not the niacinamide form because only the niacin form can change the blood and lower cholesterol levels.
You can also take the slow release(no flush) niacin form without aspirin if you wish -- it's called Inositol Hexanicotinate(same dose, same frequency).
Supplementing higher dose niacin acts to change the blood by unclumping it and thinning it safely. Converts thick blood to normal healthy blood consistency. Lowers cholesterol levels. Reduces BP. Niacin also opens up all the capillaries, hence the flush effect. Niacin will also increase your energy because niacin is critical for the production of ATP which is the main molecule that transports energy around the cells in your body. Niacin also lifts depression and, at higher dose, cures schizophrenia and Alzheimers Disease.
Cobolamine(Vitamin B12): 1000 mgs once per day with a meal. Methyl-cobolamine is the better, natural form but the hydroxy- or cyano-cobolamine forms can also be used. Will tend to increase energy due to its methylating effects.
Acetyl-cysteine: 250 mgs per day. Helps methylation as well for increased energy. Works synergistically with B12.
B50 complex: Take one tablet, once a day at a meal. Works with cobolamine and niacin for improved overall effect.
Strong Kelp Extract. Take the drops as recommended. Contains iodine which also works together with the niacin to help lower cholesterol levels. Iodine also supports the thyroid which also acts to increase metabolism to make it more efficient, thus helping to increase your energy levels. Also kelp contains useful minerals and is a heavy metal detoxer for the body because it contains alginates.
Vitamin C: 1000 mgs 3 times a day. For cell repair, detox and raising up the immune system.
Magnesium: 250 mgs twice day. Mag chloride or mag citrate are the best forms. Reduces excess calcium, supports energy but also relaxes the muscles and aids sleep. Magnesium also supports 325 other critical enzyme processes in the body.

I really want to learn all I can. We need real information. Just the other day I was reading an article about Himalayan Sea Salt and how good it is for you.... Just to go on and read some comments about the article that says if it is in a metal can you have turned into same thing as table salt and also if you cook with it, It becomes table salt. One person even said it was mined in Pakistan and was very high in arsenic.
I want to learn so much, and find I get a little discouraged from conflicting information. I would look into becoming a holistic doctor, But I am just trying to heal and prevention for myself, because I believe the government in the usa will come down very hard on natural remedies and those who give advice soon. They have already came out recently saying no known benefits to organic diet and vitamins. Even some of their studies saying vitamins can harm us.
By the way I do know that when we consume vitamins and minerals in there most natural form ( as in food ) ( Raw of near raw ) we get the best benefit of them.
I am just in a deeply depressed state at this time and junk food and alcohol have been my crutch. I really hope I can overcome this depression that I am in. This time it is really bad, the last 3.5 years have really taken a toll on me.
Thank You for all you do,
CPN

Cyanocobalamin is made by attaching a cyanide molecule. Yikes!!! They say that the cells thru the glutathione in your body will eliminate the molecule. I used the activated forms of the B vitamins. Methylcobalamin is the way to go.

And of course eat well, and stop eating junk and alcohol!! This only makes depression worse. Also try green juices and fruit, green juices.
Much love, Sunny

"...That fall he[Mr Porteous] came again to talk to me and this time he said he wanted to tell me what had happened to him. Then I discovered he had been with the Canadian troops who had sailed to Hong Kong in 1940, had been promptly captured by the Japanese and had survived 44 months in one of their notorious prisoner of war camps.
Twenty-five percent of the Canadian soldiers died in these camps. They suffered from severe malnutrition from starvation and nutrient deficiency. They suffered from beri beri, pellagra, scurvy, infectious diseases, and brutality from the guards.
Porteous, a physical education instructor, had been fit weighing about 190 pounds when he got there. When he returned home he weighed only 2/3rds of that. On the way home in a hospital ship the soldiers were fed and given extra vitamins in the form of rice polishings. There were few vitamins available then in tablets or capsules. He seemingly recovered but had remained very ill. He suffered from both psychological and physical symptoms. He was anxious, fearful and slightly paranoid. Thus, he could never be comfortable sitting in a room unless he sat facing the door. This must have arisen from the fear of the guards. Physically he had severe arthritis. He could not raise his arms above his shoulders. He suffered from heat and cold sensitivity. In the morning he needed his wife's help in getting out of bed and to get started for the day. He had severe insomina. For this he was given barbiturates in the evening and to help awaken him in the morning, he was given amphetamines.
Later I read the growing literature on the Hong Kong veterans and there is no doubt they were severely and permanently damaged. They suffered from a high death rate due to heart disease, crippling arthritis, blindness and a host of other conditions.
Having outlined his background he then told me that two weeks after he started to take nicotinic acid, 1 gram after each meal, he was normal. He was able to raise his arms to their full extension, and he was free of all the symptoms which had plagued him for so long. When I began to prepare my report [20] I obtained his Veterans Administration Chart. It came to me in two cardboard boxes and weighed over ten pounds, but over 95% of it was accumulated before he started on the vitamin. For the ten years after he started on the vitamin there was very little additional material. One could judge the efficacy of the vitamin by weighing the chart paper before and after he started on it. Porteous remained well as long as he stayed on the vitamin until his death when he was Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan. In 1962, after having been well for two years, he went on a holiday to the mountains with his son and he forgot to take his nicotinic acid with him. By the time he returned home almost the entire symptomatology had returned.
Porteous was enthusiastic about nicotinic acid and began to tell all his friends about it. He told his doctor. His doctor cautioned him that he might damage his liver. Porteous replied that if it meant he could stay as well as he was until he died from a liver ailment he would still not go off it. His doctor became an enthusiast as well and within a few years had started over 300 of his patients on the vitamin. He never saw any examples of liver disease from nicotinic acid.

I hope this evidence gives you some belief in the efficacy and safety of niacin or niacinamide. Dr Hoffer lived what he preached, he took high dose niacin(his favourite form of B3) for over 50 years of his life. He died at age 93.

There was another report of someone needing a liver transplant. They can claim it was due to niacin but we will never know for sure. Maybe it was really caused by depleted glutathione. This is what happens to people who take too much acetaminophen.
I also knew many decades back that people would detox ramping up to 5 grams of niacin gradually along with other nutrients over a couple weeks and then stopping. The reality is that staying on such doses too long would probably be difficult for most people.
I read someone touting that anything over 100mg will cause liver damage. I think that is kind of absurd unless one is already overloaded with toxic medications already pouring a lot of stress on their liver. When one puts toxic too many bad medications within ones body, many healthy supplements could produce unhealthy side effects.
I would think we'd be hearing a lot more reports if this were true in the natural health community. Someone cured their mother of Alzheimer's with 1500 mg niacinamide per day etc. No reports of liver damage. If I had Alzheimer's, I wouldn't be worried about liver damage anyway.
What we need is a ball park dose limit for people who don't take prescription meds. Not scary stories.
