19 year old daughter is allergic to 55 foods

Posted By Revnco (Los Angeles, Ca) on 07/29/2014

My daughter is 19. She has been a vegetarian her whole life. At age 14, she was diagnosed with multiple food allergies including sesame, almonds, strawberries, tomatoes, chocolate etc. Her reaction is severe skin rashes. Last year she had a spinal fusion surgery to correct severe scoliosis. Her allergies have gotten much worse since then. Her last allergy skin test showed 55 foods she cannot eat including wheat, soy, corn, dairy, brown rice and many more basic foods. Her allergist now wants to send her to a gastro specialist. She started acupuncture recently as well. I don't know what to do to help her as she is not getting enough nutrition and I don't trust the western medical advice any more. I don't want her sedated for more tests. Any help or advice?

@Revnco: Many post on this subject. Read the previous post and paste notes on a wordpad for re-read and source material. If you need any additional help, submit post and someone will gladly help; and it would be nice to know if you are making any progress.

Hi Revnco...Your daughter seems to have severe food allergies which would tend to point to possible Candida and bacterial overrun in the gut. Candida/bacteria will cause damage to the inner surface of the intestines, causing small holes which allow partially digested protein food particles to leak into the blood. These food particles (because they are still complex proteins) are immediately recognized as the enemy by the immune system which attacks and removes them -- thus causing the inflammation, pain and skin reactions that are always commonly involved in allergic reactions.

You've also mentioned that she also has high histamine levels. This, as well as the fact that she has severe food allergies, is a direct pointer to your daughter also being under-methylated. Another reason for suspecting this is that she is a vegetarian -- so she may well be lacking in proper dietary amounts Vitamin B12, heme iron, taurine, vitamin A, vitamin K2 etc. For more on this see these links:

Methylation Disfunction

So it would probably benefit your daughter to take the following at mealtimes on a daily basis to help repair her under-methylation issues:

Vitamin B6 or P5P (50 mgs twice a day),

Methylcobalamine(Vitamin B12) taken sublingualy(1000 mgs)

Methylfolate(400 mcg twice daily),

Selenium(200 mcg twice daily) tken as Selenomethionine

Cysteine (250 mgs twice daily).

Taurine (1000 mgs twice daily)

One tablet of B50 Complex every day

Also be aware that if your daughter takes the above nutrients -- these will act to immediately revive and strengthen her immune system and detox pathways so there may be die-off or Herx reactions and detox issues to contend with which puts pressure on the liver -- so reduce these dosages accordingly if necessary.

To further confirm her other lack of vitamins minerals etc in your daughter and to help add focus to your daughter's healing protocol, I would get a hair analysis done. A hair analysis is quite cheap and will also reveal the extent of heavy metals in her body (which may be high due to her under-performing detox pathways also caused by under-methylation).

To help confirm whether your daughter has got candida, I would try to get your daughter to take the questionnaire shown below, which is a fairly accurate tool for diagnosing candida problems in the body.

Candida Questionnaire

If you want to know more about candida and how to treat this condition in detail, I've written a book called Candida: Killing So Sweetly which is sold here on EC. But the whole protocol necessary to get rid of candida is also shown on EC, lower down on the page at this link.

To help you further in healing your daughter's problems, I would also strongly suggest and urge that you try to find another more knowledgeable naturopath who fully understands the connection between candida problems and allergies and who also understands Methylation Cycle problems.

Look for a N.A.E.T practitioner and reduce or eliminate the foods that she reacts to.
