10 yr old with chronic sinus infection

My daughter is almost 10 years old and she is having chronic sinus infection. It seems last forever as it first started with allergies (spring/summer). She got congested really badly. Doctor prescribed her antibiotics we were on two of them and she is still congested. Not as bad as few weeks ago before we started the antibiotics but it still there. I need to give her decongestant drops for night so she can sleep. But I don't want to keep her on it forever. She has slight cough as well. From a sinus stand point she doesn't have any other symptoms (fever, headaches). She is pretty healthy kid otherwise, very active, eat good diet (but including milk, she is a milk lover)

What would you recommend us to start with? Diet first (eliminate milk) or try Apple Cider Vinegar remedies first?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! I just hate to see her suffer like that! Thank you very much! Sofia from Philadelphia

Hi Sofia, My oldest daughter suffered with this too through her teens. I would always tell her it was because she ate dairy. She wasn't a milk lover at all but always loved cheese and ice cream. For several years she would fight me on this and I finally just let it go figuring I'd given her the advice and she didn't want to heed it so, I was done. Then, when she was about 20, she suffered a series of very serious chronic sinus infections and the drs. just kept handing out the antibiotics to her. (Through her childhood, I never took my kids to the Dr. and never needed to. ) It was her choice as an adult, by then, to use mainstream drs. Well, by the fourth bout of antibiotics and no real relief, she finally broke down crying, saying she didn't know what to do anymore and was miserable. I asked her if she was finally willing to listen to me and she totally surrendered. I made her use a neti pot, use herbs to fight the infection, eliminate ALL dairy and build her immune system back up with vitamin c and got probiotics back into her system. All sinus infections disappeared and she has not had another one since. She's now 26. Today, when she just can't help herself and has some cheese, cream or other dairy it is immediately followed with a slight sore throat so she is well aware of the direct connection.

My hope is that you help your daughter by first eliminating all dairy and see what happens. If you see the change, you will prevent a lot of unnecessary suffering as my daughter experienced. Wishing you both the best, Lisa
