Dear Amy,
The first thing I would try is raw apple cider vinegar. 1 teaspoon in juice, however much is needed to mask the taste. (4-7 ounces, probably.) It could be taken 1-3 times a day.
Adding milk kefir to the diet may be helpful, also.
Let us know how it goes. I hope she feels better soon!

Keep the diet clean, properly combine food, make smaller meals. Sugar and other junk can make candida problems and candida by-products I read can decrease stomach acid production and that in-turns allows candida and other pathogens to run more rampant. Also we have to re-learn to chew the foods more thoroughly and not drown them with too much liquids.
Try a digestive enzyme before the meal and a low dose 200 mg Betaine HCl USP and 4 mg Pepsin in the middle or after the meal (but don't take if the child isn't eating at least several ounces of protein, especially meat/seafood). There are a few companies who make this low-dose. Most people have too little stomach acid and the stomach lining can be irritated and regular dose of Pepsin can be too much. There is a brand that's kid-friendly but they don't allow brands to be listed here. For me to tell if my stomach acid was too much or too little, although I didn't feel relief with apple cider vinegar I did feel relief with hot, freshly steeped grated ginger tea and I know this acts like a digestive enzyme and stimulates HCL production. When I took an over-the-counter antacid to decrease acid it didn't help.
Also if there is problem during sleep or when the child wakes up you can get a slant pillow from online depart store.
