Dear Asha,

What does your son's doctor say? It sounds like he has not gained weight in a year and is still at 10 kg? My first born did something similar. He was about 10 kg at 2 1/2 and had not gained in at least 9 months to a year. For him it was not a problem and he is now a 20 year old young man who is average weight and on the tall side. Hopefully it will be the same for your son.

You have gotten your son off to an excellent start with breastfeeding him for two years!

Does he feed himself or do you feed him?

Avacados would be a good high fat food for him to eat. Whole fat milk, yogurt or kefir would be good for him daily if he is not already consuming them. Some two year olds do well to have several snacks between meals. I know my toddlers usually slim down a bit at the age of two since they are so active, and it often seems like they don't actually eat that much.

Daily play outside and sunshine are both good for increasing appetite. My children always eat more on days they play outside.

Astragalus root, 1/4 teaspoon of the powder each day may help with his immunity. I have found it very helpful. It is a mild tasting herb and can be mixed with food. Also, turmeric in his food would be healthful, if he likes it. A dropperful of colloidal silver in each ear and nostril daily has been helpful to many with colds. Or you could try hydrogen peroxide in the ears daily (but not in the nose.)

Do let us know how he is doing!

Thanks u so much for the reply. Yesterday I met the dr they have told us to take the following test which includes stool routine, gliadin antibody igG(qualitative), free t4, blood urea nitrogen, Mantoux test, Creatinine serum, Total vitamin d, Tissue transglutaminase ab igA (quantitative), Complete blood count panel, Liver function test, Thyroid stimulating hormone, Tissue transglutaminase, Gladin antibody igA quantitative. I have given my son blood sample waiting for the result.they told it will take few days to get the report. They told the weight loss could be due to malnutrition or less absorption of nutrition.
