Is Lpr Reflux Related to Halitosis?

Question by Helen (Windsor, Canada ) on 08/12/2007

What an amazing site! I love all the great infomation, and tips and knowing I am not the only one with my problem. I have tried the acv remedy for my LPR and my muscus in my throat is gone, swallowing easier and no more coughing. Is my bad breath(halitosis) related somehow to my LPR If so, what could I do for the condition.

Helen, Bad breath is more related to lack of alkalinity, butespecially the body's lack for potassium, which iswhat controls most of the acidity of the mouth. Forbad breath a 1/4 teaspoon baking soda plus 1/4teaspoon of potassium bicarbonate are a bit moreeffective in raising the pH. LPR just makes the badbreath much more worse, but LPR alone is also boughtabout whenever the body's acidity is high and hencebacterial fermentation leads to bad breath just thesame. Getting a salivary pH greater than 7 shouldreduce most of the bad breath, and the use of 1% H2O2 as a mouthwash should help with whatever that is leftof the bad breath when done once in the morning andonce in the evening before bedtime.
