Garlic for High Blood Pressure

jake (chicago) on 04/14/2024

garlic - fresh pressed - I recently started with yogurt 1-3x per day for valley fever. Dr. Weil of Arizona suggests garlic as it is strongly anti fungal.

What I have found additionally is that it is cure for high blood pressure. Art's recommendation - carditone - took me down from 160 - 180 systolic to 130 - 140 range, but the garlic has brought my level down to 100 - 115 systolic. Of course the 100mg nattokinase I started a month back undoubtedly has contributed as well.

Odorless Garlic Pills for Health

Last summer a couple of my kids had strep throat. That was when I discovered the amazing benefits of odorless garlic pills. I get Nature's Bounty from Walgreens They are often on sale, and not a bad deal full price.

I was taking the garlic pills when my kids had strep figured it won't hurt and might help me stay well. I have continued to take them for the last six to eight months. I take between one and four a day. (Four a day when I have a UTI as they do seem to help, along with other remedies.)

I have been exposed to very much sickness this winter. Covid, Flu, Coughs, Colds, etc. I have helped take care of sick toddler grandchildren many, many times, and thank God, I have not been sick once.

I was always skeptical of odorless garlic pills. How was that going to help at all? But I have had to swallow my pride with my garlic pills.

I also noticed how much better my allergies are. I am allergic to cats and we have an indoor cat. I am a chronic nose-blower but realize how few tissues I have needed and that the cat bothers me less.

The pills are not totally odorless. I have children that think they are very nasty. But I don't mind it and the ones I get are easy to swallow. If I take a ton, my husband says I do smell mildly of garlic.

Anyway, I think odorless garlic deserves a reserved space in the medicine cabinet!

Raw Garlic Side Effects

Junebug (Pasadena) on 08/29/2020

I had an interesting experience with raw garlic yesterday and am wondering if anyone has an idea. I chopped up garlic and ate a couple of small cloves with heirloom tomatoes for lunch, not something I normally do (raw garlic, that is). About 10-15 minutes later, I felt very light headed and a little dizzy, like mild vertigo. It lasted for about 5 hours and I was fine after that. Do you think it was my blood pressure plummeting from eating raw garlic or a high histamine response? Thanks for your thoughts. Am thinking about doing a before and after blood pressure reading next time I eat raw garlic, but didn't think about it in time.

Storing Garlic and Improving House Air

Orh (Ten Mile , Tn) on 06/19/2020

ORH here,,,,,,,, as all know, I's kinda wild and strange. We harvested our garlic bulbs, 1/2 bushel, and have dried them. My dilemma is where to store them as my choices in the past were to too sporty. Know they need to be cool, dry, dark, and in open air. Research showed the the garlic odor will kill bacteria and fungus. Being SJS, here is my solution. I am going to put them in a mesh bag and hang them in front of our central A/C unit. That will meet all the fore mentioned conditions and maybe improve our log cabin air. So, this is another tale of mine, but all use garlic and have quandered where to store. Don't think this will change the smell and it may not work on the toxins in the air. But, I needed a story to tell. ====ORH====

Garlic Allicin Tabs Took 10 Hours to Dissolve

John, (Trang Thailand) on 02/22/2018

Allicin, the working part of garlic comes in 2000mg tabs. A while back I went through all my vitamins plus etc. and sorted out the ones that took 2-4 hours in a glass of water to dissolve. Anything taking much longer goes out the back door with your money.

Allicin tabs from Thailand took 10 hours to dissolve. I will look for another brand.

I've been using Garlic, water and honey for 3 days now and it's been amazing. However, my husband is complaining of a strong garlic smell coming from my body and breath. I would love to know a way to rid of this, so I can continue to take this mixture for as long as I want, without "turning him off"! Thanks!!!

For colds, I take the minced garlic without chewing it. That way you have no garlic smell on your breath or between your teeth. Just brush a little after swallowing, just in case.

Garlic Stories

Kenike007 (Utica) on 04/30/2015

Hello Everyone. Ever since I was a tiny tot garlic has been a huge part of my life. I am full blooded Italian and I can remember while on my way to 1st grade school just a block away from my home my Italian Grandmother would hobble down the street after me calling for me to wait up..."Ashbet", she would call out, means wait in Italian. Then she would proceed to stuff a few cloves of garlic into my socks, for she believed it to keep the evil spirits away. When I went out to play at recess time all the wonderful healing garlic properties would seep into my pores and of course along with it, it's pungent odor. All the kids would run from me and say that I stunk. I would come home crying and of course my mother would pick up on the smell and find the cloves tucked into my socks. I can still hear her hollering to my grandmother, Ma, what are you doing??" My grandmother would reply, " I keeps the Evil Spirit's away", and my mother would reply to her, " and yes Ma, it also keeps everyone away! " Our Ancestor's knew the powerful knowledge of healing herbs.

Here's a great Garlic Recipe for ingesting or making into a tea.

*6-7 large cloves of finely minced Garlic

*1Tablespoon Raw Honey ( Make sure it is RAW Honey). Raw honey in itself is a powerful food loaded with enzymes. The junk honey you find on grocery shelves is refined and useless.

*Add a very tiny sprinkle of Cyanne Pepper appox. 1/6 tsp. or smaller. Cyanne pepper is a high source of Vit C.

* Put a teaspoon in mouth, chew and swallow as often as needed. I guess you can just swallow, but I chew it to release the potent allicin, then swallow. You can also put this into a tea with some lemon and other added super foods like tumeric, a bit of ginger, lemongrass or whatever you desire. Yum. I add a hint of stevia also.

Even without any symptoms, I take 1 teaspoon of this recipe at least 3-4 times a week to stay fit and well.

Hope this gave you all a laugh and helps!

How grateful I am for the healing herbs of Mother Nature. Love and Many Blessings of Wellness to you all.

Garlic as Preventative for Flu

I put 1 clove of crushed garlic for each of my baby's socks when he had colds. I put 1 pair of socks on his feet then the socks with garlic next. This is the only remedy that I have tried for his colds from 1 month to 1 year old. It only took 2 applications for him to recover from the early signs of colds.

Garlic and Blood Thinning

El (Al) on 12/20/2013

Hi. I felt I was coming down with the flu, so ate lots of garlic. Next day, I had a horrible nose bleed. Since then, I've had bruising. Apparently, the garlic thinned my blood too much. So, if I want to take garlic for the flu or whatever, what should I take with it so I won't bleed? I've always been a free flowing person, so when I donate blood they have to do extra wraps. Low BP, too. Suggestions?

Garlic Tea Helped Cough

Nicole (Atlanta, Ga) on 09/02/2013

I woke up this morning with a head cold, thanks to my nieces. Today is Monday and I have a business trip that starts on Saturday so checked Earthclinic for a home remedy to clear it up before then Had taken ACV but really help. A week before travel, I always start Emergen-C to boost the immune system; taking that helped a bit. However, I cut up 3 cloves of garlic and added them (after sitting for 15 minutes) to my hot tea and started to feel relief almost immediately. I will definitely repeat this until everything is cleared up and make my nieces drink some too.

Garlic for Candida and Thrush

Beehive (London, Uk) on 05/01/2013

Garlic for candida in the gut and thrush:

I began getting ill with the flu very very regularly. If my son had a slight sniffle I would catch it and end up bedridden for 10 days. As soon as I recovered from one flu-like illness I would come down with another. This went on for about a year. I also ended up with a recurrent thrush infection. I searched the internet and found that my illnesses were probably due to an overgrowth of candida in my gut and my immune system was compromised. I also read that taking raw crushed garlic would kill the candida but that I would get die off symptoms and it would make me feel really unwell. Well, I followed the instructions, crushed a clove of garlic, left it to sit for 10 minutes and then swallowed it with fruit juice and then ate a light meal. An hour or so later I felt so unwell. I regretted having had the garlic. These symptoms lasted 2 days. After that I felt fine. A few days later my son came home from school with a bit of a sniffle and I feared that I might end up bedridden again. Amazingly I did not catch the sniffle. A week after I had had the first dose of garlic I decided to have another one. I did not feel unwell at all. No die off symptoms therefore no candida in the gut. Now I take a crushed clove of garlic every couple of weeks or so. I also make sure my son has it too. The thrush cleared up too. I also eat live yogurt regularly too. There is no need to go to the doctors for an antifungal when you can get a clove of garlic and it does the job a million times better.

Garlic Flu Shot Recipe

Dot (Chicago, Il) on 02/03/2013

GARLIC FLU SHOT recipe. I live in chicago but I'm from the south and the cold here is BRUTAL on my system. The past few months we've been having an outbreak of flu. Everyone in my family got it (despite having a flu vaccine) and I was scared to death (I did not have the flu vaccine). BUT, thanks to this recipe I found posted on Pinterest, I survived, nursing them all through their virus without getting sick myself. This is an unheard of victory for me.

The recipe is:

  • juice of 6 lemons
  • 2 tbsps honey (i used raw)
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne
  • 1 BULB of garlic (yep, that's the whole thing)
  • 3 cups of juice (pineapple, pomegranate or grapefruit)
  • 1 tbsp or more of grated ginger
  • Drink 4 cups a day.
Blend it in the blender and drink, making sure to chew on any garlic clumps that make it through the blending process. Not only does it scare away viruses, it gives you lots of ENERGY. I got fairly addicted to it, and noticed that while I was drinking it, it had the added side benefit of making my skin glow:)

Raw Garlic for Tooth Infection

Better But With Side Effects

Hi, I read all the post about raw garlic and tooth infection and yes even how it really burns, but I did not think of it burning as what I have received. I thought maybe like some really hot --- hot sauce, or hot drink. I would like to let everyone know just how bad raw garlic can REALLY BURN. I was only able to hold it for about 15 minutes and unable to do again. The rest of the day I used Oregano Oil, (50/50 with castor oil) I also swallowed some (fresh not swished) Oregano Oil, I am not sure which remedy helped. This was on a Friday and my mouth was pretty sore from both the tooth (which pain was going down my neck also) and now the raw garlic burn. Saturday I woke to a REALLY, REALLY BAD cheek. It was so sore I could not even hardly chew, even though I was chewing on the other side, the action of movement was still hurting my burned cheek, even drinking from a straw hurt bad. Others have said it feels like they may have drank or eaten something to hot.... Type burn but this is not the case here. I have been holding salt water at the burn spot off and on all during the day, swishing hurts to much. It is really swollen and red. I am guessing the cheek tissue is more sensitive then the gum line because the cheek tissue is what got so badly burned while the gum tissue is just fine. Today is Sunday and my cheek is still sooooooooo sore and angry, the trauma has come more to the surface. Today I am going to add some Oregano Oil to my salt water in hopes this will speed up the healing. I was told by some one (after the fact.... Of course) that they also had gotten a really bad burn from raw garlic and was told to do this instead.... If they choose to use garlic for healing again. It works just as well as raw garlic with less danger of burn. Take a 6 - 8 oz glass of warm water and add to this 2 - 4 cloves of crushed garlic (a garlic mincer works best), let this sit on the counter over night to infuse, (or all day, which ever will be longest). In the morning take a 16 oz glass and add warm water and some infused garlic water (very little as this infused water is very strong) (you can always add more but can not take away) also add (optional) salt. This infused 16 oz. Glass of water will last you all day, swish around the infected area as often you feel the need. If your water gets cold DO NOT boil or microwave it as this will kill the "live" action which is needed for healing, you want to warm it with a water bath. For those who do not cook much here is how to do a water bath. Find another small bowl, cup, etc. That your 16 oz glass can fit inside with room all the way around the glass and up to the top or close to the top. Heat some water to HOT not boiling and pour into this other container, set your 16 oz glass inside this water (with your garlic/salt water in your 16 oz glass) and let it warm up. That is all there is to it. Swish or hold this infusion (only if comfortable) for about 1 minute, your going to be doing this all through the day so no need to hold longer. DO NOT SWALLOW this infusion as you have been swishing an infected area and do not want to swallow any infection. Be sure to drink plenty of clean water, at least 64 oz. If you have just swished wait at least 30 minutes before drinking or eating anything. Hope this helps so others will not get the side effect that I did. This is a great site and I visit often. Good health to all.
