Nauseous After Drinking Diatomaceous Earth - Why?

Diane (US) on 08/08/2023

Diatomaceous Earth - Felt very nauseous immediately after drinking

I used 1 tsp. in 1 cup of water with lemon. I had a hard time getting it down. I tried to drink a second glass of water and could only drink half of it. I felt like throwing up immediately after drinking it. I cannot believe a die-off reaction would happen that quickly. What else would cause it?

Serious Constipation With Diatomaceous Earth

I have been taking a teaspoon of DE in the morning for nearly two months. It causes severe constipation. The only way to relieve it is when I stop taking it. I'm drinking lots of water but it makes no difference. Also, haven't seen any improvement in my nails?

Every time I start using Diatomaceous earth in my morning water, my sinuses act like I've got allergies, I get stopped up and so nasally, I've read its part of the detox process How long does it last? It's so annoying having to keep blowing my nose. Am I allergic? I really want to grow my hair thicker its been shedding since I had covid, I did not get the vax either. This is so frustrating.

Diataomaceous Earth Caused Tremendous Pain and Swelling in Both Hands!

Juliana (Edmonton ) on 01/02/2022

Hi,

I started to use about a month + ago Diatomaceous earth powder from the health food store. I noticed immediate help with my sleep and less running to the bathroom at night. However, it gave me 9 out of 10 pain in my both hands as they became very swollen. I couldn't hold the tooth brush or comb my hair. I was devastated. Yesterday I started to take the antibiotics for chronic bronchitis and today the inflammation of the hands stopped.I am not sure why Bronchities antibiotic would help with inflammation of my fingers

.I started DE with 1/4 tea spoon first 2 weeks, then increased to a half teaspoon and then 1 teaspoon.

Now I am back to 1/4 in the morning and the evening. I saw on this website some people had pain in their hands like me..I have been struggling with osteoarthritis which never bothered me badly before. Thank you.

Question About Mixing and Store Diatomaceous Earth

Space Case (Madison WI) on 11/11/2021

Hi,

For my cats, I have 2 and together they go through 1 lb of ground turkey meat every 2 days. Today I pre-mixed their DE into the meat as I prepared it, and then it will be in the fridge for 2 days, being taken out several times a day to put some in their bowls. My question is, will this degrade / reduce the effectiveness of the DE? Many, many thanks in advance!

Painful Teeth, Rotting Wounds

Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth (FG DE) for rotting or painful teeth and rotting wounds

The fastest acting use I have experienced for FG DE is for teeth. I have a lot of teeth problems from a narrow jaw and bad dentist interventions. When I get a tooth pain, I place a wad of DE (made into a dough like blob with a drop of water) on the offending tooth, clamp down my teeth and go to sleep. Right as rain in the morning. And this is the report with everyone I've prescribed it to. Unfailingly. But use it the first sign of pain you get.

What more, two teeth that the dentists said have to be pulled off six years ago are serving me fine after my having given them the DE wad treatment for a week continuously.

The DE just pulls out any kind of necrosis.

And that's the second great thing I've seen it work its magic on. It also saved the paw of my cat, which was just rotting and the digits were falling off. Dipped her paw into DE, and the whole thing became a hard lump. But finally, the paw stopped rotting and whatever was left of the paw was saved.

Same thing with another cat I recommended it for. Another cat had an anal sac, with a hole as deep as the first digit of my index finger, and a foul smell. I stuffed it with DE multiple times in a day. After two days reduced application to once a day. By the seventh day, even the scar was barely visible.

EC: Thank you for your post! We have cross-posted it to all applicable sections; wounds (pets) and tooth abscess (people).

DE for Gray Hair

Diatomaceous Earth! (Food Grade) My husband and I started taking it in a glass of water daily for its health benefits, and his Salt and Pepper hair is 95% black again over the course of 3 weeks. I had come across people claiming it restored their hair color, but dismissed it as silly. But low and behold, his black hair is back!

Diatomaceous Earth and Amalgams

Baise (New York) on 02/10/2021

Can I use DE while having 6 amalgam fillings?

I know some people have commented on this but I realize that it's just people's opinions based on what they think is right. I've read every single post on DE on this site, but I haven't come across anyone who explicitly said they have amalgam fillings, they have used DE and have improved their health. So if there's anyone out there who has these toxic fillings and has also successfully used DE please can you respond to this post?

Please no posts telling me I need to get rid of these fillings. I know that better than anyone else and there's nothing more I want to do, but it's not cheap, especially since I need to go to someone who specializes in the removal of them and I can't afford it right now, but hopefully I will in a couple of years. I can't find anything on the internet on this topic and would appreciate any help. Thank you very much.

Diatomaceous Earth for Insomnia, Frequent Urination

Suzanne (LV) on 01/31/2021

I started using Diatomaceous Earth a couple of weeks ago. Started with 1/4 teaspoon in a glass of water and now I am up to 1 teaspoon. I take a heaping teaspoon in half a cup of water and then drink another half a cup of water. I take it in the late afternoon.

I can't tell yet about my hair and nails growing more quickly like so many other people, but two benefits I can report right off the bat:

1. Deeper sleep

2. Fewer trips to the bathroom... from 2-3 typically down to 0-1. That's an improvement!

Side Effects

It definitely dries out my skin so I take omega three oil. Still need to work on drinking more water.

The other side effect is that my finger joints feel just a bit stiff. If I stop the DE, that stiffness goes away. Interesting. I am not sure why since DE is supposed to help with joints due to its silica content, right? Any thoughts on that? Thanks.

Re: Side Effects from Diatomaceous Earth

I just wanted to share on the 'hazards' of breathing in food grade Diatomaceous Earth, while making capsules of the stuff recently I was tamping down to fill more and trapped dry DE burst out of capsule machine going into my face, hair, eyes, nose, mouth, and as I gasped in nervousness, my lungs. Apart from a mild stress from reading too many warnings, I had no ill effects, I did not wipe my eyes, nose or mouth, as at first I froze, not knowing what I should do. I did think well any bacteria in my nose will die. I will still take care with DE, but will absolutely not freak out about accidentally breathing it in.

Using one tablespoon a day of DE with water got rid of joint pain within a couple days. The food grade DE is bad ass. Brush teeth with it and is used for non-chemical form of pest control.

Diatomaceous Earth Consumption Tips

Anon (Salem, Or) on 06/06/2018
5 out of 5 stars

DE will settle if not consumed immediately. Some people and pets will not take it down immediately, so mixing it well with food, to me, is a good solution. After all, one brand of bottled water has Silica in it, as do bananas, and I haven't seen any warnings about these products. However, do not overdo the water as the body can't tolerate more than 800 mls at one time. Moderation. If you eat bananas regularly without a problem, you're introducing your system to Silica. Adding some water now and then helps, too. Start slowly with DE. Some people go full out and survive, but it's not recommended. And some people never go beyond 1 tablespoon and get results too.

Re: DE for Detoxing

DE will give you detox/die-off symptoms. Go lower with your dose until it becomes tolerable then slowly increase. I went 1 tsp right off the bat and I thought I was poisoned. Not true- just too much detox at once. I've been on DE for a week and now I'm at 1/3-1/2 tsp. While there are some detox effects, they're becoming less every day. Perhaps the antibiotic you're taking is also contributing to the way you feel. Not sure if it's recommended to take all of that together. Best of luck.

Diatomaceous Earth for Thin Hair

Hi. This is about diatomaceous earth-food grade for thin, breaking, slow growing hair. I'm 62 and found this when I was trying to detox my kidneys and liver. It had a great side effect. My hair which has always been a little longer than my shoulders and no more is now down to my waist. It's still fine but healthier and faster growing. Where my hair was thinning it has regrown. Also my nails are a little stronger and definitely healthier.

DE has really helped me very much in solving a few different issues with health. I leave a cup on the kitchen counter and add a little to food as I am cooking. It also made strong nails which I have never had before. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Try the D.E. as a face scrub. Works better that way for acne. Also start with small dose for internal use 1/2 to 1 teaspoon..work your way up to a tablespoon. Anything can be overdone.
