My senior cat lost weight despite excessive hunger & DVM diagnosed severe hyperthyroidism. Rather than surgery or Rx drug w side effects, I had great success with the following: 1. Remove iodine completely from the diet 2. Stop food from outside & make homemade food & treats 3. Food exception: Churu (non seafood) to administer herbal formula for hyperthyroid pets with bugleweed, lemon balm, etc (Pet Wellbeing "Thyroid Support Gold") 4. homemade recipe of turkey, kale, pumpkin, pumpkin seeds, liver, cranberries to replace canned food... she loves it 5. treats of skinless turkey/chicken fried in unsalted butter 6. Soup treat: 1 Carrot/1 celery/2 chicken legs simmer 90 minutes, add selenium 7. Holistic Pet Organics "Digest all Plus" digestive enzymes and probiotics … not completely cured but 80% better, purrs & plays again, no prescription meds or surgery, prayer, 1 yr now, blessings
