Sometimes called “Stinky Bob,” Herb Robert is an herbal remedy with a pungent, unpleasant odor. Despite its odor, however, the herb is an effective health treatment. The herb has applications that range from treating diarrhea to reducing inflammation.
What is Herb Robert?
An annual plant, Herb Robert typically grows 30 to 40 cm with stems that branch in many directions. The stems generally appear red in color while leaves are green and form in opposite directions at knotted joints on the stem. The plant also possesses a dainty, bright-pink flower. The stems, leaves and flowers are used to make medicine and a variety of herbal treatments.
While little is commonly known about the plant, Herb Robert possesses a variety of purposeful applications. The herb is known as an antioxidant, antiseptic, and antibiotic. The plant also has uses as an adaptogen, antiviral aid, tonic, diuretic and sedative.
