Foaming Hand Soap - Recipes

Modified on Dec 29, 2013 | Earth Clinic Team

Homemade foaming hand soap, made from natural ingredients found at your local health food store or online, take about a minute to make and costs less than most chemically-laden foaming soap products on the market. With concerns over the antibacterial ingredients in foaming hand soaps like triclosan, a known pesticide, and other chemicals like SLS/SLES, dyes, phosphates, formaldehyde and petrochemicals, many parents are turning to DIY recipes for soaps.

Below is a simple foaming hand soap recipe, which is non-toxic, pH-balanced, biodegradable and hydrating to your skin. The foam makes it easier to lather and to rinse.

FOAMING HAND SOAP

Purified Water - Distilled if possible
Liquid Castille Soap - 2 Tablespoons
Olive or Almond Oil - 1/2 Teaspoon

Optional: Essential Oil of your choice (like Lavender, Tea Tree or Rose etc)  - 1 or 2 Drops
Optional: Vitamin E Oil - 1 Capsule

Fill an empty soap dispenser 3/4 of the way to the top with purified water. Add 2 Tablespoons of Castille Soap, then Olive or Almond oil. You can add a drop or two of your favorite essential oil for scent, but this is optional and not recommended for those with skin allergies like dermatitis and eczema. You can also add a vitamin E capsule to the mixture if you like. Close the lid and shake gently to mix the ingredients. Voila! Start using your instant foaming soap.
