I mixed about a 1/3 of a cup of Borax with water to a paste consistenancy. Let it stay on my face for several minutes. Then rise. It works wonders. I did it once a day for about a week and now I am doing it every other day. Amazing results for me:)

I posted on here in Oct., 2012 about scrubbing with borax and then applying sulfur mixed with sunscreen to get rid of my rosacea. Wanted to post an update. I stopped using the sulfur/sunscreen mixture and now just scrub my face with moistened borax about twice a week, my face looks great. I believe my rosacea is caused by dermodex mites. The borax treatment has been a godsend for me; it's cheap, easy, and extremely effective. I encourage anyone to try it.

I have suffered, yes, suffered for years from Rosacea. I half heartedly tried a lot of things, including what the dermatologist gave me. Metrogel, antibiotics, etc. Some days I would be so depressed that my face was so red, or that I had the little spider veins, or the pustules, or the scabby flaking tender skin.

Recently, after reading about Borax on this site and several others, I decided to give it a try. I started taking 1/4 tsp in purified water, along with enough lemon juice to kill the taste. I also started scrubbing my face with a mixture of borax and coconut oil in the shower, leaving it on as long until I finished washing my hair and body, and then rinsing it off. Soon after I began this, I had another dermatologist appt. She was rather horrified when she saw my face, and finally pried out of me that I hadn't been using my metrogel etc, and had begun with borax. She begged me to stop, and said it wouldn't help. She then gave me a prescription for another antibiotic and a cream. She also said that a sulfur mask OTC may be helpful. So I picked up the prescriptions, found a sulfur cream to purchase, and went home.

I never opened the prescriptions, I used the sulfur cream for awhile, and continued taking the borax. I still looked like hell for awhile, and then one day I looked in the mirror and realized that my face was almost "normal" looking! I was amazed. It was maybe about 3 weeks? I had another dermatologist appt 2 months after the previous one, and she was MUCH happier with the condition of my skin. I very smugly told her that I never used the RX stuff, but just the borax and sulfur cream. She assured me that it could only be the sulfur cream. Well, I hardly ever use the sulfur cream anymore, and I only scrub with Borax once every couple of weeks or so, and very rarely ingest the Borax anymore.

My face remains in great shape. I don't believe anyone looks at me and wonders what happened to my face anymore..... sunburn, rash, etc. It just looks mostly normal. I still can see some spider veins, but I no longer get depressed with redness etc or feel like a freak! Now when I see someone who is obviously suffering with severe Rosacea, I just want to tell them Borax! Borax! Borax!

But you can't answer a question that hasn't been asked......... without being rude that is!

I have had rosacea for about 20 years. I can't afford Metrogel right now. Read online that someone had success with sulfur mixed with sunscreen. I mixed a teaspoon of sulfur with about a half cup of sunscreen and have been using it for 9 days (morning and night, after washing my face with borax), and the result is great- better than metrogel.

I had tried washing with borax, then dabbing with apple cider vinegar, but the redness continued and the sores just stayed scabby- wouldn't heal. My face had gotten really bad because I had been without Metrogel for about 3 months; looked like it would bleed. Now I am washing with borax, then applying the sulfur/sunscreen mixture and the redness is almost all gone, the sores healed, and I now only have about 3 little places that are slightly swollen, and they are getting better. My nose, which had been sore to the touch and scabby for so long, is completely well. The sulfur is a little drying, but the sunscreen helps to counteract that. My sulfur is some I got from my mom. My dad worked in a lab and brought home about 5 lbs of it thirty-five years ago, and it has been under the sink in a glass jar ever since, but is obviously still potent.

I have also discontinued washing my hair with shampoo and conditioner, and am using baking soda/borax water to wash, and citric acid water for rinsing. Also am drinking 1/8tsp borax and 1/8tsp sulfur in a liter of water everyday. Just hope this helps someone else. My skin has never been this soft, and it looks better now than it has for a long time. I am 50 years old.

Hi Christine, I had similar skin condition like you, Rosacea. Even am not sure whether it is eczema or rosacea however I am living with this problems since I was 11 yrs old, am 36 now. At the age of 24, a derma diagnosed me with rosacea. I was taking tetracycline plus metro gel, but metro gel is not effective at all for my rosacea. Tetracycline did improve my blushing but until I was taking tetrcycline as prescribed.

I am an Indian and I knew about Neem which can cure any skin related disease but I was really oblivious to neem to use as rosacea treatment. I have been taking neem capsule and applying neem oil on my face and just over couple of days I found the redness has minimized plus my complexion has improved a lot. Neem oil has very strong odour but that should not deter you from applying it on your face. There are neem creams as well soap which you can also use. Don't stop the treatment with neem if it clears your rosacea, continue with creams or soap or even shampoos which contain neem. You may discontinue with neem capsule but keep using external application. You can also do bit of research on Neem if you are in doubt but Neem really works.

My doctor says I have rosacea, although I do not have all of the flushing and sensitivities most people do, I do have some other symptoms. It is a theory that rosacea can be caused by a demodex mite. I've been using borax on my face for over a month now with little results, except my skin now has the texture of an orange peel and I get little bumps on the backs of both ears and just below my ears on my neck. I suspect this to be mites as when I put borax on these areas the bumps temporarily go away. However they reappear within a day or two. I think this is a mite issue and not some strange form of acne, but I'm beginning to wonder if it's something else and if it is then what? It has also spread to the jaw line and prior to the start of all of these symptoms I never had any acne type problems with my skin and certainly not on the jaw line. Also I have had the problems with the little bumps on my ears for a long period of time and some scalp problems (which have now disappeared) however my hair has been falling for several years it seems to be at an accelerated pace now too. If this is mites my dermatologist doesn't go with the theory of the demodex mites and rosacea point of view to begin with (I'm going my internet research). I'm feeling stuck - what kind of mite could I be dealing with (if it's a mite)? Why isn't the borax helping? If it isn't a mite problem, what is it??? I want my smooth skin back I've been dealing with this sudden battle for about 6 months now. I'm at wits end and every single thing the dermatologist has tried and I have tried on my own have not helped. It occasionally looks like I have a pimple here and there in all of this, the texture is visible as my skin is oily and the bumpiness of the skin looks like an orange peel only on a bit larger scale. My forehead doesn't seem to be affected much (yet) but the rest of my entire face and jawline is and I'm getting more and more self conscious by the day.

I have tried full strength tea tree oil, tea tree and lavender oil mixed, the borax/peroxide solution, just plain borax as a daily morning and night facial wash & scrub...I I've tried that then followed up with the tea tree oil, or tee tree/lavender oil mix. I've tried washing my face with lice shampoo and using the cream for scabies at my dermatologist suggestion, and everything my dermatologist has prescribed for rosacea and acne treatments (including sulfur products)and NOTHING is working or even helping. PLEASE if anyone can help I'd be forever grateful.

Worked Temporarily

I tried scrubbing with Borax after reading your comment. I have to agree my skin is MUCH smoother than normal. After one time I did see a lessening of redness, but it seems to be getting redder as the day progresses. :( I did not remember to apply aloe, which may have been more effective. I was wondering if you are continuing to use Borax? If so, how often do you scrub with it? I am planning on using ACV as a toner also, although, not after scrubbing with Borax because the rosacea does sting a bit afterwards. It sounds like ACV will help with redness as well as enlarged pores. I would appreciate any feedback. My face just keeps getting redder and redder as I get older and I'm becoming very self-conscience about it.

I bought some Borax in the form of a common laundry detergent several months ago. I finally tried it and all I can say is WOW. Its like washing your face with sandpaper. I was always told don't use anything abrasive on your rosecia and I thought I was gonna be in big trouble. After I scrubbed I patted my face dry and put some Aloe on it. The next morning not knowing what to expect I go to the mirror and I let out a few expletives of joy. My face was smooth and the crap was about 80% gone. The slight redness was there but everything else was about gone...Oh yeah, did I mention that that was the first night? Keep you posted.

I have suffered with Fibromyalgia/Rosacea and TMJ for over 10 years... My first symptoms appeared shortly after I began taking Paxil. After about 8 months when I found the Paxil side effects intolerable, my doctor switched me to Prozac. Well...within 2 years, I had gained 75 pound, couldn't get my temperature to a normal 98.6 (it wouldn't budge above 96.6), broke out with a fierce case of Rosacea (skin blistering & pealing in layers off my cheeks), was chronically fatigued and suffered from TMJ symptoms.

After reading the FLUORIDE information on EarthClinc and researching the chemical formulas of the many antidepressants that I had taken over the last 10 years, I had an epiphany...My problem was FLUORIDE!!! Incidentally, the' symptoms of FLUORIDE TOXICITY are the same as Fibromyalgia so it wasn't surprising to learn that FLUORIDE is the primary ingredient in MANY widely prescribed antidepressants, including PAXIL and PROZAC!!!

Without delay, I began adding 1/8 tsp of BORAX and 1/8 tsp of NATURAL (UN-bleached) SEA SALT to a liter of
DE-CLORINATED water. This regimine just happens to both neutralize the FLUORIDE and KILL the nasty mites that cause Rosacea.

I began drinking 1 liter per day for 5 days. On the 2 off days, I simply drank purified, bottled spring water.

The results were nothing short of MIRACULOUS, within two weeks my face cleared, the redness faded and best of all, my temperature normalized TO 98.6 and my energy level began to steadily increased. (Do expect the break out to get worse before it gets better as the mites die off.)

In just one month, without dieting or changing my daily routine (other than adding BORAX & SEA SALT to my drinking water), I dropped 4 pounds and I continue to drop weight at about a pound a week. I attribute this to my increased body temperature and elevated metabolism.

ALSO...when I eliminated the FLUORIDE in my toothpaste, my gums stopped swelling and bleeding and all PREVIOUS phantom tooth/jaw pain simply disappeared.

Thank you, EarthClinc and Ted...The information you shared has truely been a blessing in my life...I wholeheartedly encourage anyone that is suffering with FIBROMYALGIA, CHRONIC FATIGUE, TMJ or ROSACEA to try this simple remedy as I have had only POSITIVE results and absolutely NO SIDE EFFECTS!!!

Incidently, this BORAX & SEA SALT water is extremely ALKALINE with a pH between 8 - 9 pH.

EC: We must also express our extreme gratitude to Jason Uttley for the chronic fluoride poisoning link in his article, The Cause of Fibromyalgia.
