In the 17th century, Nicholas Culpepper wrote in his herbal that rosemary helps “diseases of the head and brain, as th giddiness and swimmings therin, drowsiness or dulness, the dumb palsy, or loss of speech, the lethargy, the falling sickness… It helps a weak memory and quickens the senses.”
Culpepper recommended not only drinking rosemary tea, but also rubbing rosemary leaves on the temples. This idea is still being promoted today. According to modern aromatherapy, which studies the effects of fragrance on physical and emotional well-being, the smell alone of rosemary can stimulate the brain. Contemporary aromatherapist Robert Tissard uses rosemary to clear the mind of confusion and doubt.
Besides its use as a memory enhancer, rosemary is a classic remedy for headaches and fainting. It helps normalize low blood pressure while strengthening capillaries in the brain and the rest of the body (Kiangus, Encyclopedia of Chinese Drugs, 1977). Because it improves nerve function, rosemary is also commonly used to relieve debility and depression associated with nervous disorders. Vegetarian Times April 1988 page 67-68.
A randomized controlled trial found that dried rosemary leaf powder helps to boost brain performance. Taking 750 mg of dried rosemary daily helped improve memory performance in elderly people. (44)

Better But With Side Effects
As I have mentioned I was taking Ginkgo Biloba and Niacinamide to improve my memory and to help keep my memory sharp. I cannot find that post. However, this post is to let you know that it works wonderful for memory, however it seems that tis is the supplement that is causing shadows in my vision.
I have taken Ginkgo Biloba steady for about 2 years, somewhere in middle of that time the shadows started, but I did not know the cause, I thought I was getting cataracts, or maybe I was taking to many aspirins for my ear pain that I was going through at that time. Therefore, I stopped the aspirin. I also stopped quite a few other things trying to figure it out. I have only been off the Ginkgo Biloba about 5 days and the shadows are gone.
It did work excellent for memory; however my health situations did not go well with Ginkgo. The good news is the clearer vision was quickly restored when the Ginkgo Biloba was stopped.
Sincerely,
HisJewel

HI U HAPPY,,,,,,,,, told this story numerous time but you can check it out on the net. The U of Cal, Ervin did a mice study about 5 years ago where they engineered mice to have Alzheimer's, they then fed them nicianamide, which is Vit B 3. They all recovered in about 6 weeks. They were elated and said that they were next doing this with humans. That never happened. My ole boss in Wi., wife was having problems. We waited and waited and he finally called them. That trial was not to be. Like cancer, too much money to be made by treating, instead of curing.
Whenever I flub up mentally, my wife asks, "are you taking your Nicianamide"? My answer is usually, "No".
For all you folks suffering from dementia, research Vit B 3. The cost is about $ 4 a month. It is another one of those 'Merican things.
Time is neigh, =====ORH==========
Years later they did a facade of a test to shut down the chatter. Some of EC's brightest bought in, but not one of me. Lots of tales on EC about how B 3 helped memory problems. Hope this ditty makes sense. Ole boss died last year at 95 and took Vit B 3 religiously and was mentally sharp. Think I better do the same. ====ORH====

I tried Ginko Biloba first but it seemed to make me more emotional. (Not necessary for a menopausal woman! )
Next I tried coconut oil. I try to get a tablespoon a day in my diet. It does seem to be making a difference. I will keep it up.

Matcha tea absolutely help my brain fire up again. I bought a diffuser last year and used essential oils for a few weeks. Keep in mind essential oils are not all pure and can be harmful when inhaled. After a few weeks of breathing air with essential oil particles I noticed my memory was not the same. I really thought damage was done from my obsession with my diffuser (orange essence). I have been drinking matcha regularly for 3 weeks and my mind is very clear. I'm remembering names better and just feel sharp like I have in the past. Matcha is full of antioxidants and other powerful properties. It also helps me with constipation.

By age 72, I had gotten to the point that I frequently could not recall things like names of famous people, movies, hotels, cities, etc. Others were always filling in the word I was seeking. I was very high functioning otherwise and in good health. Somewhere I found out about Bacopa Powder. I buy mine on Amazon. After finally disciplining myself to taking the recommended daily portion of the Bacopa (only about 1/4 tsp a day in hot food or liquid) with no more skipping, within a few weeks I noticed my ability to recall information was better and now months later my recall ability definitely has improved significantly. I still don't have my goal of instant recall all the time, but I am now always able to retrieve the name/word I want within minutes.

1 teaspoon of ground organic turmeric, mixed with 1 tablespoon of Virgin Coconut Oil and a dash of grounded pepper (because it is reported that it enhances by 20% or more the properties of turmeric).
As far as feeling any relief of ulcers or gallbladder related, there were none (as I said, I had already taken other natural remedies for the ulcers and found relief but the symptoms for gallbladder did not match my ailment). But in just one week, my sinuses cleared completely (a problem I have had for over 10 years, sneezing, blowing my nose first thing in the morning and 3 or 4 times during the rest of the day). Then I noticed an improvement in my mood, feeling motivated, energized, a general feeling of wellbeing and feeling positive, no anxiety at all.
But here is the amazing thing that happened.
I am 66 years old and have been noticing for the last 6 or so years a problem with my memory. I cannot remember names, hard as I try to memorize them, to give a silly example; I see a movie, look up the name of the actors but 10 mins after I cannot remember the names. I enjoy reading, but it’s hard for me to remember name of books and authors, etc. Well, a week (only! ) after taking turmeric (the mixture detailed above), I was watching a movie and looked up the names of some of the actors. Then I went back to the movie, and as I saw them I said to myself, this is so and so, and this other guy is so and so… and I was bewildered. I said to myself, this is not right, I don’t remember names. But I did! So I tried a little exercise I have been struggling with these past 6 years (to test and improve my memory): the phonetic alphabet: A is for Alfa, B is for Bravo, C is for Charile, D is for Delta, etc. I have never managed these last years to memorize it, best I’ve done is 15 out of 28, after a day spent trying. So I looked it up, read diligently (memorized) for a minute, then went back to my movie. Then, an hour later, took a pencil and paper and wrote the phonetic alphabet. Results? 28 out of 28! And 10 days later I can remember it as well as the name of the actors and other stuff I’ve been learning since then.
This was a week ago. Naturally I am still taking the turmeric mixture (I will do so for the rest of my life! ). I can now memorize names, news, events, etc. etc. Lost memories have come back, my vocabulary is enriched (the words were there, stored in my brain, but I could not find them…)
Do a search on the Internet on the benefits of turmeric, it’s a long list, but most importantly, it’s good for memory loss and Alzheimer’s. Studies have shown that the incidence of Alzheimer’s is very low in India because the eat curry all the time, a main ingredient is turmeric. Read about the brain-blood barrier; turmeric is one of the few substances that penetrate the brain.
I am telling this story in the hopes of helping people with memory problems but mostly to give back to Earth Clinic that has been a life-saver to me for many years now.
Feel free to ask questions, I will be following my posting for a month or two every few days to answer questions.
Cheers, Connie

I even tried the 1,500mg timed-release 2x per day as someone else posted, with no improvement either.
After reading the claims, I was so optimistic. :(
I've also tried Lion's Mane and Taurine, both separately and together and experienced some (slight) improvement, but not enough to continue taking them, since they were expensive.
