I had mrsa breakout near pubic region. It was painful and I had been on antibiotics before. Antibiotics did treat the outbreak; however, I had stomach problems, rashes (not painful), and sunburn. After a year, I had another episode, and I didn't have healthcare/insurance to see the doctor again, and didn't have the guts to take antibiotics with all its side-effects. I looked up on google about natural remedies, and read about turmeric, garlic, manuka, and ACV on Earthclinic.

In the beginning, I would take turmeric 3 times a day, 1 tsp with milk, and put the garlic clove on the wound. It seemed like turmeric reduced the inflamation as well as the speed of occurence, however, it was not gone completely, there were still some. Garlic just felt too harsh/stinging on my skin.

As I was determined to treat this problem, I decided to increase my dosage of turmeric. I treated it like an antibiotic. Took 4 times a day --1tsp of turmeric with 1 tsp of ACV and 8oz of water to make it more drinkable. I had added turmeric to the milk before but it was slightly difficult to swallow. 10 days have passed, and by the grace of Allah/God, the infection has substantially reduced, and I am pleased to see the results. I also try to take 1tsp of Manuka honey 2X a day. I took bleach baths on regular basis.

Turmeric can also cause some stomach issues, so one has to be patient. It is difficult to take in then an antibiotic, and it takes longer time to affect than an antibiotic. However, it definitely works, and has less side effects, praise God. For those people whom 2 tsp a day of turmeric doesn't work, then they should definitely try to increase their dosage slowly.

I pray that all those who are suffering from this painful disease become healthy, and spend a productive and meaningful life. Best wishes.

(yea) If I get stressed enough, I sometimes have a staph infection (MRSA??) that breaks out on my thighs. I have found that turmeric tea and turmeric paste really helped to clear everything up in about 5 days for me. I make a tea by making a turmeric paste. First I heat 1 tablespoon of coconut oil with 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper in the microwave. Then stir in enough turmeric to make a paste. Let set, covered, for about an hour. Then to make the tea I use one teaspoon of paste in a 1/4 cup of hot Acai green tea, stir in the teaspoon into the turmeric paste, then add 1 teaspoon of honey stir until dissolved, and then 1/4 cup of soy milk. I like the woody taste of the turmeric.

I would say to folks to start off with small (maybe only the tip of a teaspoon) amounts of turmeric and work your way up to whatever level you are interested in being at. One teaspoon of turmeric yields about 220 mg. (a 1/5 of a gram) of curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric. The black pepper (active ingredient piperine) plus the oil (many folks use olive oil) greatly increase the bioavailabilty of the curcumin. I also use the paste directly on the sores, cover with a bandaid, however I pick clothes that I don't mind staining turmeric yellow.

Thank you so much for this unbelievably simple and wholesome miracle of a treatment! It WORKS with such incredible healing speed that I could actually notice a difference in my MRSA sores within hours, just like was claimed. I've only had MRSA, as far as I know for a few weeks without any idea how I was infected--but I do work with money! The first sore I had, I thought was a pimple and I made the huge error of trying to break and drain it--never do this! It was a horrid, seeping thing and I was in tears... It was just above my collar bone and highly visible. Not only do I work with the public, but I have a wedding to attend this weekend and I was mortified to think I'd be seen by so many people with such an ugly wound on me. Within days of the first one appearing which i'd only been washing with cetaphil and treating with neosporin, a second one appeared on my forehead and I was again in emotional agony. I did not want to be treated by conventional methods--I understand that the treatment can be even more devastating than the infection in many cases--it tears up your immune system, basically.

I was very hopeful when I found your site and read so many encouraging testimonials about the fast results when taking tumeric three times daily for this monster of an infection. I bought ground turmeric right off the grocer's shelf and began taking it the minute I got home. Literally within hours the weeping sore on my collar bone was dry and the sore which hadn't broken the skin on my forehead was practically GONE; just THAT fast!!! I kept up a vigil of cleaning them with the cetaphil and tumeric three times a day disolved in warm water--ten days later, I cannot see where either of the MRSA sores were any longer. And not only did the tumeric work for those sores but it also annihilated a small outbreak of tenacious cystic acne that i'd been trying everything on the drug store shelves to rid myself of for months!!!!

I can't thank Earth Clinic and its contributors enough!!! I can attend my Nephew's wedding this weekend without a worry at all and I'm so grateful for your advice! I reccommend this treatment with the highest praise for Mother Nature herself!

I have been diagnosed as having mrsa and was having a serious problem w/ boils. regular medical help did nothing to alleviate the problem. in looking online, I found sites that suggested using turmeric as a remedy. I didn't have the instantaneous results that some people claim, but it did help. I started by taking a teaspoon in warm water 3 times a day, and as long as I continue to take a teaspoon in warm water each day, my boil problem has ended. thank god for turmeric!!!

Hi everyone I am a 29yr old 6'3" 225lb male who is healthy other than my 8yr battle with cultured and confirmed MRSA. I am in utter amazement at the effectiveness of Turmeric at clearing up my most recent outbreak of MRSA on my chin. I have had these outbreaks on and off since 2002. They began on the back of my head in the beggining, always treated with bactrim or ciphro.

Recently I have been getting them on my face and the antibiotics are taking up to 3 ten day rounds to get rid of them. I have been reluctant to move to vanco or anything stronger because of research I have done on this problem. I am afraid of getting immune to every antibiotic and having nowhere to turn if I ever got a possible fatal infection.

Anyway, I am not one to normally turn to herbs as a means of treating illness I guess because normally I have always been healthy and got over things. This battle however has really affected me mentally and phisically as you all know. I poured over these posts on MRSA for about a weekend after being refered by my mother in law. The first and most popular I found was Turmeric. The recent outbreak was a small one on my chin that came up fast from a spot it had previously been, that same night I could feel one starting in between my eyes as well as a sore spot on the side of my head. I knew exactly what was happening and was so sick of this. They are getting more and more networked at this point but not as huge, I guess because I run to the doc and treat them immeadiately now that I know what they are capable of. For me they seem to happen about four times a year mostly when I get worn down.

I began by mixing a tblsp of turmeric in a glass of warm water on Fri morning doing this three times a day. I didnt notice much until Sat afternoon. By Sun night it was apparent that they all were in retreat. Mon morning they were all drying up and going away. I really could not beleive this was working. Like I said eight years of mupriocin in the nose during and after outbreaks with antib's hot showers and compresses all the western med tricks. They would get rid of them but never as fast and they never obviously cured me. So as I set here tonight I am a firm believer in turmeric and will continue to take everyday prob in capsules (check warnings about capsules) for maintenance for the rest of my life. I will continue to update. There is no reason not to try it. I have no noticeable side effects from it. You do want to drink lots of water with it.

Turmeric anti-MRSA boil remedy!

About 18 months ago, I was hit with a nasty MRSA infection which saw me with a huge boil and widespread cellulitis on my leg. This was cured with Sufa anitbiotics from the doctors....but over the course of the next 9 months or so, I had 5 more reinfections, with more antibiotics....I was hating life and paranoid of every little skin blemish.

Then I found the Turmeric "cure" on Earth Clinic....and have not looked back - fantastic! I had a few other breakouts of what could have developed into a full on MRSA boil...but by taking turmeric either in water or using low cost capsules purchased online, none of them got to the stage they were getting to previously. I now take a daily dose in the morning, and the boils appear to have gone away and stayed away - for over six months.

Thanks so much for letting me know about this!

I have had a staph infection for the last month - my first ever. It was misdiagnosed until just a few weeks ago when I was finally given topical antibiotics. It seemed to have worked - the rash became a solid pimple like boil which then washed off in the shower. It left a mess though, the redness increased and there were many many bumps everywhere (this entire situation is occuring just next to my right eye) and seemed to be spreading. I put manuka honey on it, which relieved the heat issue, but I knew I had to get it off my face, in case it spread to my eye and caused serious issues. So back to the doctor I went. She gave me internal antibiotics and told me to quit eating Vitamin C, garlic, and the manuka honey and instead take a 500mg antibiotic 4x a day for 10 days. I took 2 the first day and got such a horrendous headache I couldn't see straight and all the aches and pains associated with this staph infection flared up. I took 2 antibiotics the next day but I felt so terrible on them I quit them. My legs were killing me again and I couldn't walk very well.

So I threw out the antibiotics and went back to my mega doses of vitamin C, garlic, manuka honey, and now - after reading this wonderful website - turmeric. I have been taking the 500mg of turmeric suppliments 2x a day and cooking with it for the last 3 days. I also began putting the tumeric on the skin infection by my eye because it was burning so badly. Mixing it with grape seed oil (what I found in the kitchen) has created the cure I needed! 3 days - 3 must be the magic number - and it is vastly improved. The boil doesn't itch, burn or bother me too much. The first night I didn't figure out the oil part, so it was a little dry and painful (much like the tea tree oil I had on before) but once the oil was mixed with it, the boil soaked it up. The second day the boil was very wet, and the change was beginning to bother me, was it getting bigger? Would I have a terrible scare or hole there? I jumped into the shower and washed everything off - getting out and expecting the worst. Lo and behold, the boil actually was smaller! I stayed awake last night, alternating heated rags to wash off the turmeric, then to reapply, and in the morning there was only a small opening, where before it had reached from under my eye to my eyebrow. Amazing! Tonight I will continue to clean it off and reapply whenever it starts to burn or itch again - hopefully by tomorrow it will be sealed with only the rash remaining.

Thank you so much for all of the information on here! It's amazing...$2.65 for a huge bag of turmeric spice...$8.00 for the suppliments - it should be a crime doctors do not tell people about natural remedies. Sometimes I think we have everything upside down and backwards when it comes to knowing all there is to know about medicine.

Turmeric for MRSA! Halleluia! I have been getting folliculitis and cellulitis on and off for over two years. They tell me I have colonized MRSA and other than antibiotics they don't offer much in the way of help or hope.

My daughter was graduating from college on Saturday (I am 52) and on the Thursday before, I had two boils and the beginnings of a third. Sobbing, I was on the internet, once again, and I stumbled on this website. I use turmeric often in cooking and I know that it has anti-inflammatory properties.

I took a tsp with some coconut oil and water at 8pm, applied a poultice of baking soda and turmeric and went to bed. When I woke, the pain had gone from a constant 7 to maybe a 3 but the real surprise was how they had shrunk in size just overnight. Stunned, is all I can say. I followed up with three doses of a tsp with milk or oil and applied poultices again the second night. WOW. Wow. Wow. I pray this continues to work, I am amazed and eternally grateful. THANKS SO MUCH!

I'll add another "yea" to the growing pile of positive feedbacks for turmeric treating staph.

Ailment: I have been suffering with chronic folliculitis (s.aureus was cultured) in my beard area. Usually 5-10 active boils are present at any one time, varying in size from a single hair follicule to deep, 2cm diameter nodules.

Prior Treatments: I have tried just about everything under the sun for this: antibiotics for three months; prescription antibiotic cream; medicated shampoos; chlorhexidine washing; tea tree oil; witch hazel; apple cider vinegar rinses; not shaving (I grew a beard three years ago when this started). All were ineffective. I seem to get reinfected over and over again, even though I take care to use clean towels, pillowcases, etc.

Turmeric: Now this is more like it. The turmeric really works. The effect was not immediate, like so many report, although it was quick. I started taking full-spectrum highly concentrated turmeric capsules (400mg, 3X per day) and it took about three days to notice the healing. At first the inflammation calmed down, and those nasty boils began to retreat. I've been on it for four days without any new outbreaks and the last of pre-turmeric boils fading away. No other treatment (doctor- or self-prescribed) has been nearly as effective.

Kudos to Earth Clinic and all those Earth Clinicians out there for pointing me in the right direction!

turmeric and boils

I became very run down due to great stress in my life and one morning woke up to a huge knot on my face. I never had a boil before so I did some research to figure out what it was and how to cure it. I came across this site and found the turmeric cure. I was aggressive with the treatment using warm compresses soaked in turmeric and salt all day and also applying a paste made of turmeric powder and salt directly to the boil. I also used a 1/4 cup of 1/2 & 1/2 warmed up with a teaspoon of turmeric and a touch of hot chocolate for flavor several times a day. After one day, the thing began to drain a foul smelling puss, totally gross. I did a little more research and found it was probably MRSA. I know how bad MRSA can get and I was worried that my face might become disfigured from it. Day two the boil kept draining and I kept up the hot packs and paste religiously. It's now day 8 and the boils is almost completely gone. It's truly amazing. If you have a boil, always be very careful about not spreading it by washing your hands vigorously every time you go near the boil. Use sterile technique when dressing it,always cover a MRSA wound so you don't spread it(It's highly contagious) and use gloves if you can. Wash any clothes or sheets every day that come in contact with it. I used disposable pads on my pillow at night. I actually feel better than I have for a very long time with energy and ambition. I am so thankful to have found this site. and I'm totally sold on turmeric!
