Let me tell you now, tonic water ABSOLUETELY works! After about 2 weeks of my left eye twitching about 8 times every 1-2 I minutes (I promise you, I am not exaggerating. It was terrible! ) I was seriously - not really, but almost - thinking it would be better to gouge my eye out rather than deal with the excessive twitching. I am soooo happy to have found this website when I did. I rushed out of the office to the nearest store and packed my shopping cart with 9 bottles of diet tonic water. I drank about 3 to 4 liters a day for 3 days an it's FINALLY GONE! Thank you all for you tonic water suggestion. I feel like I'm sane once again :-)

Tonic water for eye twitch... Absolutely works! This definitely got rid of my eye twitch. You do have to drink a lot of it though. I drank a liter a day for a few weeks. I stopped drinking it about 5 weeks ago and haven't had a problem since. Try to get the diet if you are concerned about calories. Also, the active ingredient (quinine) can cause you to get a false positive on a drug test for heroine, so keep that in mind if you need to get screened for some reason.

I've had a persistent eye twitch in my right eye for about 3 months now that's driving me crazy! Yesterday, I drank a glass of tonic water. I was going to have a gin and tonic, but I didn't want to be buzzed, so I just had a glass of tonic water and noticed that night (and this morning) the twitch had dramatically stopped by about 80%. I took a bottle of tonic water with me to work and have drank about about 16oz and the twitching has almost stopped completely. I have some of that powdered calcium/magnesium stuff at home. Might give that a try, but it seems like tonic water is the magic bullet.

I tried the tonic water after reading these posts and experiencing over two weeks of constant twitching in my right eye. My condition improved so much with just under a liter of tonic water in 24 hours that I almost forgot to write in to thank you for the suggestion. I am grateful for a simple and effective remedy, and for the generosity of the poster to share the info. (also glad to hear cigarettes have a potentially useful purpose, and that I didn't have to go that route).

I had an eye twitch that would happen many times throughout the day for about a month. I went to the eye doctor and he also suggested tonic water with quinine. I went right to the store and bought a bottle. Had only a few sips that night, as the tonic water is very bitter. The next day the twitch was completely gone. It was amazing!

The tonic water works! I had an eye twitch for about 1 1 /2 weeks. I drank around 3 oz. of tonic water (nasty stuff! ) and about 1-2 hours later my eye started watering. It twitched just a few times more throughout the night and then felt dry and itchy. I put on a brewed tea bag for about 20 minutes and woke up good as new the next morning! It has not returned since (about 2 weeks age).

Rapid eye twitch in left eye for 2 days.

Further to this 2007 suggestion of tonic water. I went looking for a tonic water (shudder) without sugar or corn syrup. Even the high priced one had sugar. And was almost $4 for one lousy soda.

It was recommended to me to try JUST Quinine which is the ingredient in tonic water that the OP was talking about. A supplement called Leg Cramps with Quinine was $23 for 100 caplets. I bought those to try and dissolved 3 immediately under my tongue.

I don't know how it works, but it worked. And in record time. I have also been overdoing the work outs the past week and my persistant leg cramps went away as well. I am amazed.

Doing a search for Quinine online made me a little uneasy as there are side effects for some. I will report back if the twitches return. But in a nutshell. Quinine stopped the eye twitch cold!

Thank you so much for that suggestion of tonic water/quinine.

I was ready to stick a lit cigarette in my ear (above) lol, Sam

I had an annoying eye twitch lasting already two months before seeking help from my eye doctor. He said to drink tonic water for the quinine. Quinine is a muscle relaxant, and sure enough, the twitch subsided that very day.
