So, after a lot of research I found out that I had a hemorrhoid, which originally started as an internal hemorrhoid, but became external after a few days. From what I learned, most external hemorrhoids are actually called thrombosed hemorrhoids, which are basically a blood clot. The important thing to know is that there are two parts to a hemorrhoid, the actual blood clot (usually at the root of discomfort, essentially it's the clotted blood vessel in your rectum), and the swollen hemorrhoid tissue around it. I will explain what I mean a little further down.
So, here is what I did:
1) I started with Preparation H hemorrhoid cream that you can find at Walgreens, along with medicated wipes that contained aloe vero & with hazel. NOTE: In my experience, the Preparation H did NOTHING, literally nothing, and I felt like it actually inflamed the hemorrhoid and made it worse.
2) I read a lot about Apple Cider Vinegar, so I gave it a shot. I got cotton balls, pretty much soaked them in the ACV, and tucked them right up again the hemorrhoid so there was constant contact, as well as enough ACV to consistently soak in. THIS WAS HUGE! Within about 30 minutes I felt relief, and I kept using it for about a week.
Here is what I learned about ACV, that it works wonders with a normal external hemorrhoid because it greatly reduces swelling of the hemorrhoid, and in many cases if the hemorrhoid is not thrombosed, it will go away with just ACV. However, in my case, I was able to assess every day what was different. Before I started using the ACV, the hemorrhoid was about the size of a dime, soft, and just straight up uncomfortable. What I learned after a week of ACV is that it heavily reduces the swollen hemorrhoid tissue, but did not completely take care of it because I had a thrombosed, or blood clot hemorrhoid.
So, how do you know if you have a thrombosed hemorrhoid? In my experience the blood clot hemorrhoid was small, about the size of a black bean, it was hard, still, somewhat purple in color, and I could tell there was a lot of pressure just in that tiny bean-like hemorrhoid.
From there, I switched my focus to figure out how to remedy the blood clot, because technically the swollen hemorrhoid tissue was pretty much gone. So I did a lot of research and found something called Horse Chestnut, which comes in a cream or pill form. Basically this is a super old school, natural herb that has been used for hundreds of years to treat varicose veins, which are a form of blood clot.
If you were like me, you read Horse Chestnut and were like "what the hell? where do I get that", and I was able to find it at a Vitamin Shoppe, and I was told they sell it at pretty much every pharmacy except Walgreens or the big Walmart like chains.
So I started using the Horse Chestnut extract, which I took two 200mg pills every day, and started to see some difference. I also used Castor Oil and applied it directly to the area, it didn't do much for swelling/getting rid of the hemorrhoid, but it did sooth it and make it feel less noticeable.
About that same time, I found a product online called Hem-Relief. I am and will never be a salesman, but I strongly advise getting a bottle just to have, because it knocks out hemorrhoids so quick! I picked up a bottle of Hem-Relief 7 days before I left for a cruise in Honduras, and started taking 2 pills 3 times a day. By the time I got on the cruise, I didn't even notice my hemorrhoid, didn't feel it, and when I did think about it, checked it out, it was 100% gone.
Hem-Relief combines many different natural herbs, along with the Horse Chestnut I talked about above, and I really gave me results in less than a week. I assume that if you just stuck with Horse Chestnut you'd be ok, but I know all of you reading this want hemorrhoids to go away ASAP, and realistically $40 for Hem-Relief to make them go away is wayyyy worth it.
So here are my bullet points for getting rid of hemorrhoids:
- Put your feet up on a 6" tall box or stool when you poop. Squatting is the natural was to defecate, it just puts less strain and pushing on your muscles.
-Use Apple Cider Vinegar to relieve external hemorrhoid swelling. Soak a cotton ball and stick it up there, go about your business for about an hour, take it out.
-Use Caster Oil to each and sooth discomfort during normal daily activities.
-Keep using the medicated wipes and keep that area clean. Hemorrhoids can flare up very quickly if not constantly addressed.
-Invest in some Hem-Relief, or Horse Chestnut. This will immensely help the blood clot involved with hemorrhoids.
-Be patient and know that you're not the only one. I've heard some 75% of people get at least 1 hemorrhoid in their life, and trust me, they suck.
Hope my experience and wisdom helps. Cheers.

The following are things that worked for me:
Pure Psyllium powder once a day for regularity.
Coconut oil healed the fissures within a few days (used as a suppository) and has a wonderfully cooling sensation. It was an immediate relief! It soothes irritated skin surrounding the area as well. I find it wise to use a tiny bit externally since that area needs to stay dry. No problems with fissures since!
Bending over while on the stool. This is wonderful and highly recommended. Thank you person who posted that. This is the way to go! :) Makes so much sense. I still insert vaseline with a q-tip prior to going for good measure.
Using witch hazel to clean the area. Witch hazel wipes. Corn starch powder to stay dry.
My naturalpath gave me a food allergy test. Relatively inexpensive. By cutting the foods out of my diet that I'm allergic to my body seems to process foods better. A good digestive enzyme to help with the things it doesn't.
The surgeon prescribed a stool softener (I just saw it as an over the counter product in the drug store). I use this if my normal bowel movement doesn't happen to prevent tears. This has eased my mind when I'm worried about something I ate tearing me up. Like the other day when I had a burger that was like a brick in my stomach.
Cayenne Pepper with honey and lemon for swelling have had immediate impact on the stubborn external hemorroids that seemed like they would never go away despite everything I did. I love this drink and just wish I wasn't so afraid to try it before. I thought the cayenne pepper would burn, but only my throat if I add too much. About 1/8th of a teaspoon in a large mug of warm water. It is wonderful! I take it morning and night.
I have used an incredible amount of Ibuprofen over the last several months for the pain and to ease the discomfort. Recently I found that Antihistamine used for allergies makes the itching go away! Common over the counter allergy product. Oh my goodness what a wonderful thing!
Kegels helped get the external ones back where they belong. Sitz baths when I needed them. Glycerin suppositories when things get stuck and over the counter ointments.
It's been a long arduous process to completely remedy my problem. I sit all day at work (on a rolled up towel) and am just now starting to feel normal with the Benadryl and cayenne tea for those stubborn external ones. I'd like to be able to wear jeans without setbacks which hopefully will happen soon. All the best!

I am not sure what triggered them, probably a light case of constipation due to poor diet and a bit of stress. However, even if in the past I had a bit of itching or pain here and there after using the bathroom, I had never had such a bad case of inflammed external hems. Luckily enough though my hems were never bleeding, not once over this past week, just very swollen and painful. The first two days were the worst as I was at work and standing all day was not helping at all. I had not slept in two days and I was in so much pain that people starting asking what was wrong with me. Talking about your hems is not an option, especially at work, as it is such a embarassing subject but so common apprently and so painful that it is a serious ailment. I didn't know how to cope with them. Prep H was not working, and I had not had time to search much on the internet to find a different remedy. Finally I stumbled on this site and it was like a miracle for me. I was going to be off for the following two days so I was hopeful that by using some of these remedies by the time I had to go back to work, I would be ok. Not exactly the case but at least I knew what to do and I knew I had to be patient.
I read all the posts and the remedies I chose for me were: garlic/coconut oil suppositories, ACV, hot baths, ice packs, witch hazel, vitamin E and horse chestnut tablets. Among those I think the ones that really made a difference were the horsechesnut tablets and the garlic. The rest was just to alleviate the pain and discomfort for the first 4-5 days especially after using the toilet. I found that grating the garlic and mix it with the coconut oil and freeze them in the shape of suppositories works the best, stings less than just inserting the garlic and less uncomfortable. Plus the suppositories are kept frozen so they give an instant relief once inserted.
I also bought Rutin and I will start taking it daily in order to prevent hems to come back. I hope that works. I have added more fiber to my diet as I think that was the part I was really missing, so oats, granola, quinoa for breakfast, have been really helpful.

First I needed things that were common around the house or were inexpensive so here goes... this is what works!
*** In the morning everyday until the problem is gone you need to take a glass of warm water and dissolve 1tsp of cayenne pepper and drink it down.
*Cayenne pepper works from the inside out by relieving swelling and inflammation in veins and is proven to restore vein elasticity to that of a youthful state with continued daily use.
*** For external hemorrhoids I have found that taking equal parts (about 1oz) of witch hazel & apple cider vinegar & crushing one whole clove of garlic into a paste & combining all three together & soaking it into either a cotton ball or gauze pad & leaving this inbetween your butt cheeks all day forces them to shrink & relieves the pain & irritation throughout the day. I tried it without garlic and it wasnt effective. It helped a little bit once garlic was added it made all the difference!! It will burn to begin with but it will be well worth the burn once you wake up on the 3rd day & notice your hemorrhoids almost gone!
*** Also, I take one garlic clove and partially slice it into three sections and lubricate it with aloe vera gel and use it as a suppository nightly. This is patricularly helpful if you have internal hemorrhoids or your hemorrhoids are advanced as mine are and cause a sticky odorless discharge to come out of the anus. This discharge will irritate the hemorrhoids and prolong the healing time. Since garlic kills bacteria it will ensure that most of the discharge that continues to come out is as free of bacteria as possible.
Most of the effective pills you can buy for hemorrhoids contain both cayenne pepper & garlic. Its truly amazing what both of them together can do for your body! They can be quite expensive as well.
*Garlic works because if its antibacterial properties attributed to a chemical it contains called allicin which gives it hemorrhoid fighting antibacterial properties & that distinctive aroma it has. Garlic is even dubbed as the most potent "miracle cures" known to man. It serves as a powerful antibiotic, reduces blood pressure and blood sugar, fortifies the body's immune system and reduces the cancer causing effects in nitrates.
***Another thing that helps is to use baby wipes & squeeze all of the liquid out of them and soak them in witch hazel for use after going to the bathroom. DO NOT USE TOILET PAPER! IT WILL IRRITATE THE INFLAMED TISSUE & LEAVE YOU UNCLEAN! You need this area to be rid of bacteria to promote healing. Since most witch hazel you find comes with 14% alcohol this is great at relieving the pain, swelling & killing the bacteria after bowel movements.
*Witch hazel also promotes healing by shrinking, stopping bleeding hemorrhoids & reducing inflammation in blood vessels. It is the common ingredient in most over the counter pads (such as Tucks) because of its soothing properties associated with this shrub.
So just remember these 4 ingredients and you will be rid of this problem in no time...
Cayenne pepper (orally daily in 8fl oz warm water)
Garlic (externally, internally & orally daily)
Witch Hazel (as a topical & after bowel movements)
Apple cider vinegar (orally, internally & externally)
None of us want this problem to last any longer than it has to so taking a multiple cure approach has been in my experience the most effective treatment in curing my own problem. I hope you will take my advice and together we can all spread the word on what really works!!! Good luck!
