Stumbled on this site after using castor oil after brushing for 20 minutes daily or pretty much daily. I have Medicaid which allows $500 per year for a dentist. The dentist wants to do deep gum cleaning because of 4 mm on 2 quadrants. I'm only allowed one quadrant per year on Medicaid! I don't know what effect castor oil has done on my gums but after much reading on this site, and seeing the whitening of my teeth for myself I can feel assured my assumption I'm helping my gums is correct with castor oil pulling. I love this site. I was glad to see some more recent posts so I hope the site stays up. I'm almost 50 and need what's left!

Search oil pulling for gum problems. It will solve gum problems, bleeding gums, and bad breath in about 7 days. Also whitens my teeth.

I want to start off by saying, I do not like going to the dentist!

I have to thank, once again, this website for helping me in my battle with gum disease. After going to two different peridontist and getting quotes from $5,000 to over $6,000 for gum surgery, I decided to check out earth clinic. The first doc said, well, we do the gum surgery than you can go to the dentist get implants, crowns, etc. and I can easily spend(get into debt) of $12,000 or more. He suggested to extract all teeth and get dentures. This would cost less than $10,000 but gee no more cavities, etc. He failed to tell me how my cheek bones will sink in and I will probably age in looks. He was so caught up with extracting and putting in implants to hold dentures! This cost he quoted me didn't include the implants.

Well I came on to this website and read about oil pulling, etc. I begin. I would first thing in the morning take one tablespoon of Sesame Oil swish it around my mouth than spit it out. I started doing this 2 x per day. I also rinse with Hydrogen Peroxide.

I started a timeline. When I went to the first peridontist because my gums were inflamed and throbbed, teeth were loose, etc., as he poked checking gums, it bled a lot! By the time I went to the 2nd peridontist I had been on the oil pulling about 10 days. There was no blood when he poked at my gums! He said my gum condition was "moderate" while the first doc said "advanced". Ofcourse, these docs could have just been different.

So, I went to a family general dentist two days ago, who said that my teeth were not loose??? I did not say a word about the oil pulling. Well I have another appointment for a general consult in two weeks and X-rays will be done on each tooth. We shall see.

So, far, I can say, honestly no more throbbing of my gums, the color has changed to a lighter pink. I have spent approximately over $400 just in these visits and X-rays. I will get an estimate from the coming up consultation to see what they can do to "save my" teeth at a reasonable cost. Ha!

I can honestly say that doing the oil pulling, using bee propolis with baking soda toothpaste and rinsing with Hydrogen peroxide(3%) has helped me tremendously. I have doing this now about 3 weeks.

I would not have known about any of these alternatives if it weren't for this website. I will keep you updated on the process.

What with one thing and another I avoided the dentist for 5 years. When I finally went, I was told I had periodontal disease with pockets mainly in the 3-4 range, and a few 5s. I had the lower half of my mouth deep cleaned. For financial reasons I didn't return for the second half of my cleaning for 2 months and in the mean time I oil pulled every morning and did a number of other things as well. When I returned this afternoon I asked her to remeasure a few of my pockets. She checked the lower half of my mouth -- she didn't look at all of them but every pocket she checked had gone down a size, and a 5 had gone down to a 3. She was very pleased. I asked her to check the top (uncleaned) half of my mouth and she did, strictly to be nice, and discovered that although the gums were still inflamed, the pockets there had also gone down a size, something she characterized as very surprising.

I've done a number of things, which I'll detail, which I hope were helpful, but I mainly credit the oil pulling for this.

Oil Pulling -- swapping between sunflower and sesame when I run out of a bottle --

Vitamin C -- I've gone from never using it to 1 - 2 grams a day, more if I think of it, which I usually don't.

I made a mouthwash recipie I found on the web: 1tbspn Echinacea tincture; .5 tbspn Oregon Grape Root tincture; .25 tbspn Plantain and Propolis tincture -- combine, add a dropperful to a tbspn water, swish in your mouth 20 seconds after brushing then spit out -- I've done this intermittently.

-- Swapped out my toothpaste for a toothpowder made from 2 tbspn baking soda, and 1 tsp each: salt, myrrh, prickly ash bark, white oak bark -- all ground up in a spice grinder.

And I've been trying to drink blackberry leaf tea (good for the gums) and a tea made from White oak bark, lemon grass, and yerba santa.

Also once a day flossing of course.

I expereinced severe Gingivitis in two areas of my Gums, I had a small amount of dental reconstruction done in the US it was very expensive, I moved to Turkey, in 05 and used Dr Tongs remedy for three years it works, But I was unable to find it, again, I found two Dentist in Turkey who did deep cleaning and replaced the broken bridges on the right side, But the stubborn gingivitis was not responding to the treatments the most rececnt dentist used. But a few months ago I was researching for home remedies for dental health and found this website and information about OP I started it from the Oil I strained from Sesame Butter, It showed instant positive results, clearing the white paste from the Tounge improving the healing of the infection under the gum line. Yes I have expereinced some of the healing side effects described by some of the People who use the Op. But it definitely is a solution to ridding the system of unwanted bacteria and Toxic deposits, Most medicallly trained professionals overlook and fail to treat or even aknowledge as the cause of many symptoms. that the Body uses to alert us that there is a underlining problem that must be addressed. I have heard it can take months to get the full benfits of OP, don't stop to you get it. Happy healthy attracts wealthy unfoldings. I hope this inspires and help those who read this.

I started oil pulling with ____ Coconut Oil about 10 days ago after my first visit with the dentist. I had a bad case of gingivitis; bleeding gums and was about to lose a molar, and was going to need a heavy duty cleaning. The dentist prescribed an alcohol-based mouthwash to use twice a day, which I really didn't want to use. A co-worker mentioned oil pulling so I researched it and then bought a jar of ____ Coconut Oil.

Long story short, I went back to the dentist last night and he was absolutely amazed on how my gums looked. He said he couldn't tell I had periodontal disease just by looking at my mouth, only by x-rays taken the week prior. The gingivitis had cleared up that much in just 9 days! I have been pulling only once a day every day and some days a 2nd time. No more gum bleeding either! I am thrilled with the results. I can't wait to hear what he has to say when I go back in 2 weeks!!

I'm a former skeptic become oil pulling convert! Before oil pulling, I had advanced gum disease, and I'm only 29. My mother and I are something of a legend in dentist's offices - every dentist we have gone to has commented that me and my mother's plaque problems are the worst they have ever seen. I curse genetics for that - we have good oral hygeine habits, but unfortunately people who are genetically predisposed are 6 times more likely to develop gum disease than those who aren't - even with aggressive oral hygeine habits. I tried all different kinds of mouthwashes, toothpastes, even the Sonic toothbrush, nothing helped. The last time I went to my dentist, my dentist commented that my gum disease has progressed to the verge of periodontal disease. She said that it is really sad to see a person my age have such serious gum disease and told me, "You know, you still have time to turn the health of your gums around, but if you don't do it soon, you are going to spend a lifetime of pain and expensive procedures". What she said really stuck with me, and I knew I had to try something different.

Even though I am a faithful follower of Ayurveda, I was always hesitant to try oil pulling, because honestly, it sounded a little ridiculous. As a law student, I'm a little bit of a trained skeptic - and the idea of swishing oil in my mouth curing a host of diseases sounded completely illogical. But after reading the testimonials on this page, I figured, what do I have to lose? Sesame oil is very inexpensive and it doesn't require a lot of effort to incorporate oil pulling into my routine - I could just swish it in my mouth for 20 minutes while I take a shower or do my makeup. So I figured what the heck and I gave it a try. At first it was a little difficult and it made me gag, but after a few tries I got the hang of it. I just take about a tablespoon full in my mouth and spit it out once I'm done with my makeup routine.

From the first day, I noticed a huge difference in the feeling of cleanliness in my mouth, the freshness of my breath, and even my teeth seemed whiter! The freshness lasts all day, and I even wake up in the morning with fresh breath! No more funky breath at mid-day. After a few weeks I noticed that some of my front teeth that were becoming a little bit loose had anchored into my gums firmly. My gums that were beginning to recede are slowly starting to grow back, and my gums stopped bleeding during normal brushing.

After oil pulling for a few weeks, I decided to ramp up the results by following the oil pulling with a hydrogen peroxide rinse (half hydrogen peroxide, half water, a big pinch of sea salt and 1 or 2 drops of peppermint oil for taste). Now, I also put one drop of oregano oil (diluted with olive oil) on my toothbrush. After using the oregano oil for a week or two, my gums started turning a healthy pink color. The oregano oil is really strong - so go easy on it. Only one drop is really all you need.

The results have really been something of a miracle. Not only has it appeared that I have almost completely reversed my advanced gum disease that I've had for almost a decade (I will confirm that when I see my dentist), but like many other oil pullers, I have much more energy in the morning and I just feel really energetic and healthy overall. Not only that, but my acne that I've had since I was 13 has completely disappeared, and my skin looks really healthy and glowing. Like my dentist told me, the health of your mouth is connected to the health of your entire body - as scientific studies are proving (gum disease is already been proven to be linked to strokes and heart disease - do the research yourself! ). Science is beginning to prove what Ayurvedic teachers have been saying for thousands of years - "disease begins in the mouth". So, if we want to cure our body of disease - the mouth might be a good place to start.

If you are reading this and are skeptical like I was, ask yourself, what do you have to lose? It's a remedy that costs pennies a day, has no health risks, and it can potentially save you thousands of dollars in painful and expensive dental work. On top of that, it can save your health - and it goes without saying that good health doesn't have a price.

I wanted to pass along my story to help another person like me. Thank you everyone at Earth Clinic for all of your wisdom, and best wishes to all of you for happiness and good health! :)

hi ya,

ive been oil pulling now for 1 week, to treat gintivitus, my friend asked me how I was doing. I showed her my gums, she then said they look light pink now, but no change with the gaps from my gum to my teeth, I think the pure coconut oil must be doing something, as it is working on my gums, my gums have been really sore the past 2 days only were the gum has come away from my teeth, and really sore when I swallow, been swishing with salt and water, to settle this, I will continue to do oil pulling, just hope its good news at the end, bye for now.

I had my gum pockets measured in Jan. 2010 and again in April 2011. According to my dentist, pockets don't improve on their own - they just get deeper. Except for a 6 week break, I've been oil pulling in the time between the examinations. I haven't had any other gum treatment. I think the facts are pretty clear. The number of deep pockets has significantly reduced.

7 mm. Pockets: went from 2 to 0

6 mm. Pockets: went from 2 to 0

5 mm. Pockets: went from 9 to 4

4 mm. Pockets: went from 6 to 7

I no longer need expensive, unpleasant gum scaling. Big thumbs up!

I have to give oil pulling (OP) a big... no that's not even close... a gigantic YEA for gum disease. I was in fear of losing all of my teath to this nasty disease. However, I started OP about a week ago now and my gums and teeth feel great now. I have a dentist appointment in a few weeks to talk about the removal of my 2 lower molers. I'm not sure this will prevent removal or not. But, I'm sure it is going to prevent further removal of other teeth in the future. For once, I can't wait to go to the dentist. I know they will see the improvement as well. My teeth feel planted better, my gums don't bleed/hurt anymore, I don't have anymore tartar build up, food doesn't seem to be getting stuck inbetween my gum/teeth, my teeth are whiter, and my breath is always fresh now.

I tried everything before this. I was almost obscessed with brushing, flossing, and rinsing. I was even prescribed antibiotics many times. Nothing ever helped. It just got worse and worse and I was paying hundreds of dollars (even with insurance) a year on dental cleanings and maintenance.

So far, I have tried pulling with organic extra virgin coconut, sunflower, and olive oil. I haven't been able to find a non-toasted organic sesame oil. But, will keep looking. Anyway, I OP a little less than a tbsp of oil in the morning and before bed for about 20min.

The thing that works best for my gums is olive oil mixed with a drop of oil of oregano. However, the taste is almost unbearable. It makes me gag at times. So, I started to use coconut oil (which I was already using for it's many benefits anyway). This oil just feels terrific in my mouth... I absolutely love the taste, smell, and texture. Even my dog goes nuts for it and won't leave me alone when I am pulling with it. However, it doesn't seem to do the job as well. So, I have been switching off and on. Last night, I tried sunflower oil but it seems to get foamy and liquidy fast. Maybe that is a good thing? I will probably alternate with it from time to time.

I get the best night sleep after using coconut oil. But, my teeth and gums feel much better in the morning after using the oregano/olive oil mixture. So, I'm torn. However, I can say with out a doubt... next to exercising, oil pulling has been one of the most beneficial things I have done for my body. It has seemed to lift my spirits, cleared my senses, and brought new meaning to my life. Perhaps it's all because of the regenerized feeling in my mouth. I can't say for sure. But, I can breath better and feel better every morning. Actually my ablility to breath now seems to be a pleasant side affect. You see, both of my septums are deviated and for the first time ever, I can breath through my nose. For this reason alone, I will never stop oil pulling.

I also mix up a small vial of 3-4 drops of pure oil of oregano diluted in olive oil. I take this to work with me. I rub it on my gums whenever I feel the need. I was doing this for a week prior to oil pulling and it also works good. I was even using it straight from the dropper. But, the oil pulling really makes your entire mouth and body feel better. And I rarely have to use my little vial of OoO anymore.

I also have to say, i was a huge skeptic of all this. But, with desperation comes desperate measures. I will remember to not be so close minded in the future.

I just wanted to close by thanking everyone at this site. These are life changing remedies and tips. Thank you and bless you all!
