My Mom, who is 67, is an ex-smoker. Although she quit back in 1983, she was diagnosed with emphysema in 2013. She has hardly any trust in the medical establishment (long story, but I can't say as I blame her much! ), and so the only reason she went to the doctor last year was because she got a letter to report for jury duty and had to have a doctor's letter saying she was physically unable to serve. So to a clinic she went. The physician asst. was alarmed when he took her oxygen level and wanted her to go to the ER. Mom was very resistant to the idea but because I was so upset, she agreed to go the next day for my sake. They took a lung x-ray and gave her a breathing treatment and told her she had emphysema. She was given a referral to a lung doctor and also a prescription for an inhaler. truth be told, Mom has never actually needed the inhaler, but has kept it around "just in case". Needless to say, she never did go to a lung doctor. So anyway, for the past 4 years I have watched her breathing get worse and listened sadly as she had long violent coughing spells multiple times everyday. Her face looked like someone had been punching her around because of all the dark spots caused by her severe coughing. Through the years, I have tried her on various natural remedies. Nebulizing hydrogen peroxide made her actually feel worse and she couldn't even do the nasal bottle spray method like Bill Munroe demonstrated either, although she really tried. So it goes that I had come to the point where I had just decided that I was at a point where there was nothing else I could do...until very recently. I read where a lady said she did the dmso by nebulizing it and took msm orally. Well, I knew that Mom wasn't going to try nebulizing anything again, but what did we have to lose by trying the MSM?

Some have said that you should only take it as a powder. Well, my stubborn as a mule Mom would never drink it if it tasted bad (it does) so I found out that you can buy it in capsule form, so I did.

She's been taking just one of the 1000mg capsules two times a day for about three weeks now. We have been nothing but AMAZED! Within a few days her coughing was less severe and her breathing was better. The bruised-looking places on her face started fading. The color has been coming back to her face too!

I just want everyone to know that even if you can't take the powder form of MSM , do not assume that you will not get any benefit from it. I am also not saying that my Mom is cured, but I AM saying (and these are HER words actually! ) that she is doing 85% better than she was before! All because of 2000mg of MSM a day.

Oh. One more thing...they give MSM to racehorses. Horses get emphysema and we all know that horses do not smoke!

Hi, MSM powder has been shown to have a profound effect on Emphysema, Bronchitis, Asthma and other lung complaints. As MSM is sulfur based it is well absorbed by the body. In the case of Emphysema being a chronic condition it is advisable to take large doses to detox first. 6 teaspoons of powder to 3litres (5 pints) of water, drink it throughout the day. The effect should noticeable after 3 days. MSM is classified as a food not a drug so anything that the body does not use will be excreted. MSM must be taken with vitamin C, your body will tell you what level of VitC you need, like MSM it will excrete the excess. In Australia and New Zealand we buy MSM with VitC already added. I don't know about other countries. I have used this and nebulised with Baking Soda and Magnesium Chloride for COPD and the results have been unbelievable. From not being able to walk as far as the toilet I now walk everywhere. Good luck - Marlane Ellis
