To Greg from Bristol, Uk: Although you may experience some benefits from using cayenne in the powdered form, it is much more effective if you use the tincture. Start with a drop in some water or tea 3 times per day and increase the dose by a drop or so each day until you are using a half dropper full(depending on the strength of the cayenne in the tincture). As you noted there is a downside to the powdered form with stomach distress and the effectiveness is very low with a very long term use to gain noticeable benefits. Using the tincture should produce measureable improvements in blood circulation within a few weeks. Jay

I use cayenne as well. It does have a back bite. The irritated tissue gives the 'burn' after drinking the powder in warm water. I bought the pills thinking 'by-pass' that. Well, just got the burn lower in the gut. You want the 'help' focused near your lungs, so the warm in water gets very fast absorbtion. I added extra fermented foods, and lowered the amount I was doing til I found a balance point. If it is 'burning' it is trying to kill or heal an area that isn't right. hope this helps.

Better But With Side Effects

Cayenne 'tea' - I have COPD and just tried 1/2 a teaspoon of Cayenne powder in warm water and I must say that there was a very prompt and marked improvement in my breathing - but I really dont think I can drink this regularly as it caused an equal impact on my stomach and throat............ Does anyone know if Cayenne extract capsules are also beneficial - also info about the strength to aim for and whether they are gentler on the metabolism ???

My husband has suffered from Emphysema for quite awhile now and has slowly been getting a lot worse with his breathing. He has been on several medications, plus inhalers and none of them seem to be helping much. He is a workaholic and was getting extremely frustrated at the fact that he was becoming unable to go to work several days at a time, and completely out of breath walking a very short distance, in fact 3 days ago, was seriously thinking of going into hospital again for some help. , but stayed in bed.

However, in the meantime, I found this website, read about the cayenne and told him about it. I didn't think for a minute that he would try it, but he did. To his and my surprise, he started to improve. His strength has been improving each day and we are both amazed at how much energy he has. In fact he is back off to work tomorrow - just 3 days after starting this remedy.

Taking the cayenne 3 times a day (1/2 teaspoon in warm water) has worked absolute wonders.

I have been reading your readers' emails and I wanted to make some comments about Cayenne Pepper. Cayenne is one of my favorite herbs for myself and my clients. I had prostate cancer 18 years ago and I cured it naturally using herbs, cleansing and diet only. For the cancer I used the John Ray Christopher method of cayenne tea with a teaspoon of cayenne pepper in warm water 3 times daily. Today I still use one or more teaspoons daily in my food at every meal. Just recently I received a call from a Doctor of Chinese medicine who was throwing up blood from ulcers. As I alway do I suggested cayenne capsules using 100,000 heat units plus. He could not believe that this would work but he took my advice and within a few days his problem was over. Of course I also gave him some advice on changing diet and lifestyle. In my 18 years as a naturopathic healer I have used cayenne many times for bleeding ulcers. Cayenne also works great for emphysema sufferers, I have seen patients get off oxygen bottles and out of wheelchairs. But the person with the disease must go beyond the herb for the disease and look at the way they eat and their lifestyle. If they do not change their life the disease will appear somewhere else in another form.
