COVID-19 vaccines can cause temporary side effects as the immune system responds to vaccination. Most reactions are mild to moderate and resolve within a few days. Common symptoms include soreness at the injection site, fatigue, headache, muscle or joint aches, chills, fever, and swollen lymph nodes.
Less commonly, people report symptoms that are more intense, unusual, or longer-lasting. Because a health problem occurring after vaccination is not necessarily caused by the vaccine, persistent or serious symptoms should be medically evaluated rather than assumed to be a vaccine reaction.
