I do not recommend the sea salt cleanse. My doc had me start drinking "Sole" first thing every morning because my blood tests keep showing low sodium and chloride. Sole is a Himalayan salt and pure water remedy to increase my levels.

To get sole, you buy large junks of himalayan salt (1/2 way) in a jar of pure water and let sit for 24 hours. then first thing in morning, take a teaspoon of sole and mix in 1-2 cups of pure water.

Taking that a few days now has me constipated despite having been regular with well formed stools before that. I experimented with many variations -- more water, warm water, small amount of lemon juice, waiting 2 hours before consuming anything else, etc. nothing changed constipation.

maybe works for some, but not me. BE FOREWARNED. you could be creating side effects that are not good for your body.

Sea Salt for Constipation:

The easiest and best way to do the "Sea Salt Cleanse" is to just take a pinch of Pink Sea Salt (1/8 tsp.) at night right before bed with 2 Cups of water. That's it, you will also sleep like a baby because the salt will regulate your stress hormones throughout the night which will prevent your adrenals from spiking and disturbing your rest. When you wake up, have a cup of coffee and you will have a bowel movement. The salt and minerals slowly make their way to your intestines while you sleep. Just make sure you are drinking 3-4 glasses of water throughout the day. I keep a small jar of fine Himalayan Sea Salt on my night stand and do this every night. (The best part of this remedy is you can do it every night as part of your routine without drinking a ton of nasty salt water and having to stay close to a bathroom for hours! )

I want to give a resounding yea for Borax curing hypothyroid related constipation. I had been constipated for years. Long history of pain medication, bad thyroid, and poor diet. Fixed the pain med and poor diet, but still had the severe constipation. Been on lots of prescriptions. What finally worked was supplementing magnesium (taking epsom as last resort), weekend sea salt flushes, and taking Ted's Borax solution 4 on 3 off. Been amazing. It took 2 weeks but now I'm about 6 weeks now of cured. Fantastic. On day 3 of the off day I sometimes have issues, I usually just try to do a epsom or sea salt flush.

I went through feedback for taking sea salt and water for curing constipation. I started with 1/2 TBS of himalayan pink salt with 1 litre of water and for the next two days I took only 2 pinch of salt in one glass of water twice a day. While starting with this remedy, I started to feel some irritation in my intestine and today is the third day and I am suffering from loose motion.

Not sure how 2 pinch of pink salt can lead to loose motions. I would like to switch to organic sea salt. Since I started this remedy, I could feel lot of thirst. Looks like my body is dehydrated. Is their any way I can take salt and water solution everyday to cure my constipation?

Thanks.

To relieve constipation, I mix ~1 tsp salt water sole with 24 oz water (the solution should taste pretty salty) and drink the full glass (you don't have to drink it all at once, but try drinking the whole solution within an hour). Then, I eat something with plenty of fiber, such as oatmeal or a microwave flax muffin. This usually gets me going within an hour or two.

When this doesn't work, I then try coffee mixed with 1 tbsp coconut oil. If that doesn't work, I take a few magnesium oxide tablets. If all else fails, I do a sea salt cleanse first thing in the morning. If none of these remedies work for you, you are too constipated for home treatment and need to see a doctor.

To make salt water sole, take a glass container with a plastic lid (do not use a metal lid because the salt reacts with the metal! ). I use an empty glass water bottle, but a canning jar or whatever you have will work so long as the lid is not metal. Fill the container about 1/3 full with a good, natural salt. I use Himalayan pink salt, but Celtic sea salt or any other unrefined, non-iodized salt should work. Fill the container the rest of the way with purified water (not tap). Cap the container and shake it up to dissolve the salt. Excess salt should sink to the bottom - this is a good thing because it means the water is saturated with the salt. Let the solution stand for 8-24 hours. When consuming sole, do not stir; Just pour some out from the top.

I drink 1/2 to 1 tsp of salt water sole everyday when I get up in the morning to keep in good health. When you are running low on sole, just add more salt and water, always making sure that there is excess salt at the bottom.

I frantically looked online fir a quick remedy and tried 1 tablespoon of sea salt in half a glass of warm water from the tap and it worked 15 minutes after taking it.. (I wouldn't recommend taking that much but it worked for me) just totally AWESOME!!!!

This is effective and fast. Do it only at home! I think I used 1/2 teaspoon sea salt and warm water and another glass of water. An 1/8 of a teaspoon would have been a better choice. It felt like everything left the building.

Better But With Side Effects

It was a definite "yea" for me. However, I didn't start running to the toilet until shortly after 2 hours. Nothing happened from zero hour to 1 hour. From 1 hour to 2 hour I slept. I was awakened by pain at 2 hour. It hurt. Then I was using the toilet quite frequently for more than an hour.

I drank 3 pints (or 6 cups or 1.5 quarts) with 2 tablespoons full of sea salt dissolved it in. I am sort of big (200 lbs), and I tend to be able to handle anything. When other people are peeing purple from drinking beet juice, I get nothing. So I figured that I should take a little more than everyone else.

The idea that the sea salt cleanse kills off all microbes is nonsense. I grow lactobacillium in a salt and veggie solution, so I know that the sea salt cleanse is not going to kill off lactobacillus.

I can't say that I really enjoyed myself. It did hurt.

God bless the creator of earthclinic.com. I was unable to have an effective bowel movement for 8 days. I tried many different natural cures with no luck. At this point I couldnt stand up right, I was in so much pain Then I found the sea salt cleanse. I mixed two teaspoons of SEA salt with 4 cups of warm filtered water. The mixture took effect one hour and 45 mins later. My advice is to stick close to the toilet for awhile.

I have read some of the posted comments about the Salt Water regiment for constipation not working. It made me skeptical in thinking that it wouldnt work for me either. However, I tried it anyway, what did I have to lose. I used about 2qts of water and 3 tsp of celtic sea salt. I can guarantee you, within 45 mins, I was in the restroom for 1 hour. It was amazing! This stuff really works and I am relieved. It the cheapest and most healthiest regimen besided eating a high fiber diet. It is something that can be first thing in the morning to keep your system regulated, as read in the Master Cleanse book. Thank you Earth Clinic Community.

I just tried the sea salt cleanse after my 2nd day of constipation. 3tsp salt, large glass of warm water followed by glass of water and relaxed in a warm bath, lying on side as I've read that elsewhere - still had trouble so did the old world thing and laid down paper and squatted, using the bathtub for leverage - they squatted for a reason! Whew, what relief!

I got up early this morning to drink a quart of hot/warm water, with 2 TB celtic sea salt. Last night I drank a detox tea to prepare. It didn't work, I know it doesn't work for everyone the first time but even if it had- I wouldn't do it again. It was so gross! I was just felt sick all day. I don't poop much- I eat mostly veggies (then protein and fruit), I'm gluten and corn intolerant, hypothyroid,... take my ACV, molasses, coconut oil, beet kvass... I just want to poop!?

I tried the Sea Salt cleanse this morning and it did nothing for me :( I've been reading and it seems to work for just about everyone who tries it. I would like to know if someone can give any feedback on why it didn't work.

From what I gathered reading the Sea Salt cleanse is this: 2 teaspoons of Sea Salt in 1 quart/liter (32oz)of warm water. And you should have a bowel movement/diarrhea within 15 minutes - 2 hours.

That's exactly what I did. I heated up the water just till it got warm /hot then added the 2 teaspoons of CELTIC sea salt, mixed it and drank it down in like 10 minutes. Nothing happened for 2 hours except for a couple of tiny farts and some small stomach noises. But I should add that just about 2 hours after taking the drink I did have a slight bowel movement which I had to strain kind of to get out and it was small solid nuggets and not diarrhea/liquid form at all which I find odd. (sorry for being a little graphic there)

I read somewhere that if you don't have diarrhea after 2 hours, then you did not put enough salt in.

Tomorrow I will try 3 teaspoons in a quart of warm water and hopefully have a cleanse.

If anyone can possibly help me out here I would appreciate it.

I did a Salt Water Flush also this morning. Works great. But, maybe you are really clogged up. I would wait a few days, then try again. Did the salt dissolve completely? Maybe try warmer water. Also, lie on your right side for about 15 minutes if you can. The water will empty into your intestine faster. You will know if you are empty! I do this about every other week, or if I have eaten something I shouldn't have, I do it the next morning if I have time. Good luck!

Sea Salt Cleanse for Constipation: a tablespoon of seasalt in 20liters (or a little less) of cold water works GREAT, I've noticed putting the salt in really cold water, makes it not taste so bad, but be warned, for some it can work REALLY well and REALLY quick, so Be Prepared..and don't try and go on a long walk or drive right after, if you know what I mean :)

I have tried so many remedies over the years for my constipation. Many have been rather costly. My nutritionist told me about a simple, cheap, and effective way to give yourself a good cleanse and help you to stay regular. First of all, the #1 cause of constipation is not drinking enough water. The #2 cause is not enough good salt in your diet. He told me to do this first thing in the morning before anything else: get a big glass of water, about 32 ounces. Add 1 tsp of good sea salt (Hawaiian pink salt is the best-- I use Premier) to the water. Drink it all down, probably within 15 minutes. (I think it is easier to drink a lot of water in the morning because your stomach is empty and it won't make you feel bloated) I tried this 2 days in a row and within a few hours I had a great cleanse. Not a hard one, but very easy and cleansing! I will continue to do this each and every day. Sometimes it's hard to drink water constantly throughout the day, although it is good for you, this is easy! And it doesn't taste gross! And the salt is good for you too for so many other things! I can't wait to see how this is going to effect my mood, my skin, my energy, etc! And to add, this may be harder, but it works better too if you try not to eat past 8pm. I have a horrible habit but I am working on that too. Think this will all make me sleep better and overall feel better!

Sea Salt cure for Constipation. Works like a charm! Although I've tried this two ways. I've use epsom salt as well...but it is quite gross and you may throw up, so sea salt is much easier on the taste buds. It could take anywhere from 10mins to 2 hours. If its not working, try drinking more water...the salt is dehydrating your system!! This is probably the most comfortable way than taking a laxative. I tend to get cramping from everything else, ie sienna tea. sea salt is the way to go!

Resounding YA, Finishing my 4th day of a water fast and became a little worried not having a single BM since the fast began. Cruising the web and came across Sea Salt as a laxative and descided to give it a try. I can tell you it worked for me ! It took about an hour as predicted - awesome! I didn't measure properly and pretty sure I added too much salt - i felt the need and drank another liter of water soon after. Next time I will get the spoon out - and I WILL use this cleanse again. I can continue with the fast now with a clearer mind (and bowel). Hopefully I'll make it the full 10 days, feel good so far. DO stay close to the bathroom.

Hi, I have been suffering from constipation even though I drink over 8 glasses of water and take fiber. I decided to try the sea salt flush I read about. It says 2 teaspoons of sea salt and 1 quart warm water and no sooner then you drink it you will be going. Well nothing happened. I just felt even more bloated. Any cures that work fast? I would like to do a cleanse that works fast. Thank you

I have been going through a healthy lifestyle change for sometimes now. I've eliminated some things from my diet and added healthier things. While on this transition I decided I wanted an, and tried to find a simpler more cost effective way to do it. I came across a website for a salt water flush. I add 2 teaspoons of un-iodized sea salt to 1 quart of warm water (you can add a little lemon juice to mask the taste) and immediately drank the whole quart. Not to much longer after I finished the quart of water, I was headed to the bathroom. It cleansed me out thoroughly. I don't want to get graphic, but it did the job so good, it was scary. So if you need a good cleanse try it. I would like to advise you that If you have high blood pressure and cannot use salt, talk with your doctor before doing it, but It worked GREAT!
