Borax, Epsom Salt Poultice for a Boil

(topical) Borax + epsom salt + water for boil

1 generous pinch of borax + 1 generous pinch of epsom salt + just enough water to dissolve (maybe 3 or 4 drops). I have mixed this solution in the palm of my hand and applied. Reapply as needed throughout the day. For me, the first application greatly reduced pain and inflammation. It softened the hard inner part of my boil and flattened the angry, tender to the touch surrounding area within hours. I've had to reapply twice in a couple of days because it hasn't completely disappeared. Maybe if I had reapplied a few times in one day, I may have obliterated the evil awful boil? Maybe.

I also have 1000mg/1G turmeric. I took 2 of those today for good measure.

Hubby developed a boil on his back. He had never had one in our 20 plus years together. Then very soon he had 5 of them. We're outside in the yard heat sweating a lot and he's very hairy also, which could have brought it on? This just happened this month June 2021. I made a Turmeric paste, dabbed each one, then put a bandaid on all 5 of them. After I pulled them off and he showered when we were done outside-I reapplied new ones. Did this for 1 week. I also wore gloves while doing this.

All the swelling went down and away and healed up nicely.

Lemon Peel for Armpit Boil

Lemon Peel (Pith) to Cure Armpit Boil

Remove the peel of a lemon, rub the inside of the peel on the boil. Repeat daily.

I was reading about a guy that uses lemon peel (the inside pith) to remove warts. So I tried it on an armpit boil I had developed. It worked in 2 days!

Here is what he said: "I attended a seminar put on by a master herbalist and someone in the audience asked what to do about seed warts. She said to take the inside of a lemon rind and rub them each night and in less than a week they'd be gone. I tried it on my left hand first and to my amazement, they started to fade with the first application. After five nights they were gone and skin was as normal as if I'd never hand them. Then, because I've read that sometimes they go away on their own, I tried the right hand, one finger at a time and the same thing happened. One by one, the warts went away as I did each finger, and they've never returned. And I lived with those ugly things for 30 years and lemon rind got rid of them in no time. I don't know if it works on any other type of wart."

Avoid Gold Jewelry for Recurring Boils

Valiegirl (Fl) on 03/06/2021

I had constant boils for 15 years in all the usual places - armpit, groin, bra line, etc. Got tested for allergic contact dermatitis because of another malady and found out I was allergic to gold. Took off my gold jewelry and never had another boil unless I accidently come into contact with gold again. I can't even touch gold paint. This includes white gold and rose gold also because it is a salt in the gold that I am allergic to. After some thought, I realized I never had a boil before I was gifted with diamond studs and pendant set in yellow gold from my husband, before that I was a sterling silver girl. And now I am again.

Nutmeg for Re-Occurring Boils

Rob (Kentucky) on 03/01/2021

@ Louise from the UK who wrote about turmeric for re-occurring boils on 2/27/21

Try Nutmeg Spice:

Turmeric works wonders on boils topically. But if you're having re-occurring outbreaks. The bacteria has gotten in deep into the tissue or even the bloodstream.

A have a friend that suffered from re-occurring boils that would pop-up all over his body for years. He is a picker. He picks at them. I’ve even seen him take a needle to pop them (bad idea) that’s why I suspected the bacteria was in his blood. He spent thousand’s of $$ with doctors and got no relief from them. Til one day when we were hanging out with a few friends, he was picking at the newest boil to come up on his knee so I asked him, “do you want to get rid of them”? He replied, there is no cure. Well...believe it or not, there is! I told him he had to do exactly what I said. No matter how stupid it sounded. He agreed to do as I said.

Here is the treatment plan:

Go buy a spice bottle of nutmeg. Put enough powdered spice on the back of your hand “about the size of a US dime coin”. Lick it up with your tongue and swallow. Do this once daily for 30 days. That’s it! Sounds too simple.

Note: Burdock root tea can also be used but, nutmeg can be found at most grocery stores.

Now here are the results of what happened to his body over the 30 days:

He noticed that he was not getting new boils at about 15 days thru the treatment and by the end of the 30 days, the old boils had completely healed. I saw him about 6 months after that and asked him about his outbreaks. He said “no new boils”!

Nutmeg stimulates circulation in the body, which can help your body fight the bacterial infection in your boil. This will help to prevent boils from developing. Compounds in nutmeg have strong antibacterial and antifungal properties. Nutmeg is also a detoxifying agent. It cleanses the blood by increasing the effectiveness of all the body's elimination systems. Its diuretic effect helps the kidneys filter impurities from the blood. It helps push toxins out through the skin, and it also boosts the ability of the liver to remove toxins. By pushing toxins out through a variety of pathways, nutmeg can purify the blood with minimal side effects and with minimal stress to the body.

Turmeric for Boils

Lousie (UK) on 02/27/2021

I've suffered from boils most of my life, since puberty. Always on the bikini line area which as you can image, isn't that much fun growing up and, is extremely painful!

I love being active but find exercise exacerbates the condition due to the sweating and friction...difficult when lowering weight is a suggested treatment!

I've found turmeric to be a lifesaver. I purchased a pot of coconut oil, melted it in the microwave the mixed in lots of turmeric powder so its bright yellow, then leave it to set again. I take this orally a few times a day and it instantly either helps the boils to come to a head and pop or just shrink back down. I also find making gold turmeric milk, with added cinnamon, star anise and cardamon a really palatable way to eat more - lovely at bedtime.

I do find that the boils are recurring though, which I'm finding hard to control. I'm looking to start a strick juice/smoothy raw food plan for a few weeks to see if that helps, coupled with daily ACV and turmeric, but I wondered if anyone else had any advice.

I did worry I could have hidradenitis suppurativa as I've had this condition since puberty, but the characteristics of the boils and flair ups don't quite seem right. Still, I don't think diet alterations would be a bad thing...sure my waistline would agree!

Love this website. Always my first resource when I suffer from any ailments.

If you're getting any kinds of boils, especially recurrent boils in the same area, then take the homeopathic remedy Hypericum 200 4-6 times a day. It could be in pill form or in the liquid form. That should fix it in a couple of days.

Camphor Spirits for Boils

I have suffered with boils all my life. I have tried all the remedies, tea tree oil etc. nothing worked.

I started using camphor spirits. If caught at the first small bump it works great. Do not use on an open draining boil. Antibiotics work but getting in to see a doctor can be too late. Most doctors are at a loss with boils I have found. Draining can be painful and most doctors just don’t have the time. I could write a medical book on boils, but no happy ending or fix.

Ang (Pensacola, FL) on 02/26/2019

I contracted my first furuncle ever after shaving with a razor that was a bit dull. For two weeks, I didn’t know what it was, as I had two other ingrown hairs that I'd been able to free with Prid drawing salve. This, though, was not an ingrown hair, but was an infected hair follicle. I made it worse by scrubbing it in the shower. Now four follicles were infected, and I developed a lump under all four follicles... it was now a carbuncle/boil. Ouch!

A friend told me about turmeric and whole milk paste, applied topically. The paste “ripened” the two smaller infected follicles using this remedy. I then switched to a paste of turmeric and colloidal silver, and they burst and drained into the paste/plaster completely. Barely any marks left to worry over. Then for nearly four more weeks, nothing would help the other two more seriously infected follicles “ripen”. Not with hot Epsom’s salt soaks, turmeric plasters, or zinc oxide cream, although I think those things helped keep them from growing out of control.

Finally, I popped in here and learned I could take turmeric internally in material amounts for this problem. I read every single review, which filled me hope and determination. I wanted this painful ordeal sorted! So, I prepared turmeric tea, using 1tsp of turmeric from my spice cabinet. I repeated the tea halfway through the day, and then I made a drink with whole organic milk, dash of cinnamon, 1 tsp of maple syrup, 1tsp of turmeric, and a dash of pepper at bedtime. I also wore a paste of turmeric mixed with a vitamin E capsule (can penetrate all 7 layers of skin), all day and night, on the carbuncle/boil. When I woke up, both infected pores were completely “ripe”. Yay! I wanted to continue the turmeric tea and golden milk concoction, but I actually felt too sensitive throughout my digestive system from drinking so much of it the day before. I have a very sensitive tummy in general. I decided to apply a thick layer of zinc oxide cream over the “ripe” heads all day and night. The next morning... they both had popped and were draining into the gauze dressing I had loosely applied over the area. Thank goodness! I then sat on the toilet and spayed my entire lap with colloidal silver, then I cleaned up the two wounds, and surrounding area, with rubbing alcohol soaked toilet paper, and flushed it all away. Next, I showered, resprayed the wounds and some gauze with colloidal silver, and applied the gauze between my clothing and the wound. I resprayed throughout the day, and once the area was thoroughly calm and pain-free, and both wounds were successfully making healthy scabs, I applied some vitamin E. This strong remedy could upset your tummy, but it works a charm on blind-ended, intractable boils.

In the future, I would do a reduced dose for myself and do it much earlier in the process. But... I will never touch that area with a razor again for the rest of my, hopefully, carbuncle-free life!

Love you so much, Earth Clinic! 💜💜💜 Thanks to all turmeric review contributors!

Coconut oil and turmeric paste for painful boils.

Hi all, mum called to say she had another large painful boil, it was on her buttock making movement difficult. I asked her how did you get rid of the last boil, only about three weeks earlier (groin). She replied oh you told me to put the coconut oil and turmeric and in the morning all the gunk had come out. I should do it again. Ok mum, also, if you take a tsp every day you will stop getting the boils.

Omg Tomatoe paste saved me from my pain. I came on here to find what works as this is the first (and hopefully only) boil I ever had. I saw the tomatoe paste posts and decided to give it a try. I slathered it on, covered it with gauze and then put a heating pad on top. Two hours later it started to drain. I’ve had it for 4 days now and it was showing no signs of coming to a head and was only getting worse.

This remedy works!

Boils to lance or not to lance

In the name of God. By God's will this finds you and your family in a way that is best in pleasing God. Good day earthclinic. Well after reading some shares here it made me think we'll I was told you should be happy when getting a boil cause it releases toxins from your body so I have went to emergency room and gotten them lanced or let them come to a head with a golden seal tea bag for heat so now I have read you should prevent them from coming to a head ok I will try turmeric I have been taking it for circulation, varicose veins and blood clots I had gotten side tracked. Thanks and I did put the Neosporin after reading it here. I have gotten boils 2 or 3 under both arms after putting on deodorant now I use Tom's natural I tried baking soda ended up back in emergency room someone made me some with baking soda diluted with Amber powder, it works for me. I have been told I have a low immune system, by God's will he grant a cure I have been reading here and will continue.

EC: For boils in the armpit area, please see our Hidradenitis Suppurativa page.

Onions for Boils

In my family if we have a boil, or acne that won't head up, we simply apply a slice of onion and hold it in place with masking tape for a half hour, then remove. This will bring many infections to a head. After draining them we again apply the onion for another half hour to make sure it's drawn everything out. A friend of mine had a rabbit with a puss-filled sore on the top of its head and it was not responding to the vet's medication. She was afraid she would lose her rabbit. I told her about this and the next day she called to say, "It worked! You saved my rabbit's life!"

I usually have a boil every few months on my buttock. Many people from this site say turmeric works for their boils. Thus, I try and it works in a sense that it develops less often now. I take 2 capsules x 750 mg daily. It comes with black pepper for better absorption.

I had a boil/carbuncle that would not peak and it was really huge and red and painful and it was located in an area which prevented me from walking properly. I got some gentian violet 0.5% solution and applied with a cotton ball. After a couple hours it was throbbing and the next morning the boil/carbuncle popped! It began draining itself and the bump went down ..pain subsided tremendously and I could walk normally again. It works so fast like magic! It dried up in 2-3 days time

Calcium Bentonite Clay Paste forced Boil to Drain

I had some Calcium Bentonite Clay (usually used for my curly hair and my face as a detoxifying/clarifying mask treatment) and I mixed it with some apple cider vinegar to create a paste. I applied it to a deep boil which had not come to a head yet. Within 5 minutes, the boil burst and released watery blood. I showered and washed with Chlorhexidine Gluconate Solution 4.0% (a wash they tell you to buy before surgery to kill bacteria and prevent infection from hospital). After the shower, I applied antibacterial ointment (mupirocin topical). I plan to apply the Bentonite clay again tonight. I've never seen something work so quickly! This is my first time having a boil.

By the way, Turmeric (purchased from the grocery store) mixed with milk worked very well for my husband when he had boils so I have also taken some of that as well.

A 100% cure for boils.

Apply 27% hydrogen peroxide with a q-tip. Rub into the skin so the skin begins to burn a little, and turns white. Keep doing, even several times a day, until a crust forms. Wait a few days, then poke off the middle of the boil -- there will be a "cone" (like in a volcano) of hardened pus.

Keep applying the peroxide until the whole boil is gone. There will be no scar, and no leftovers causing problems later. Mine was an inch across, I waited too long, and it's taken over a month of treatments. Simple and effective. (Pool stores carry 27% peroxide as "shock".)
