Vitamin C Differences: Which One Is Best?

Posted By Daisy (NY, NY) on 06/24/2008

I have gotten confused while reading Ted's responses about vitamin C. I am finding it hard to find (locally) sodium ascorbate and thought I had figured it out that calcium ascorbate was just as good (PH wise.) One of Ted's posts says that calcium ascorbate is O.K. to use. Then another post of his says that sodium ascorbate is the best. Are they equivalent in the PH sense? Thanks for any insight.

I think another issue is that we already have too much calcium in our diets, and therefore the sodium ascorbate is better. I remember Ted writing about chelation one time, and why using disodium EDTA is much better than the calcium EDTA. So, I use that same line of logic for my Vitamin C. If you google calcium on this site, you'll find more info. I buy my off a popular vitamin/supplment website (not sure I can say the name - but herb is in the name-hint). Very affordable; comes in powder form. Also, after I asked, my local herbal store started selling it. Best wishes.
