Marine Phytoplankton Vs Fulvic Acid

Posted By Christa (Mountlake Terrace, Washington) on 07/24/2008

I am so intigued about how benefitcial fulvic acid/humic acid is to prevent and treat many illness due to it's rich mineral content. I have recently heard many benefits about marine phytoplankin as well. Apparetley it is very rich in trace minerals similar to the fulvic acid while it contains many other fastenating nutritional properties as well. All of the elements are naturally occuring, marine phytoplankin contains virtually all of the raw materials in needs. It is a complete food, containing over 65 nutritonal properties, including, all of the amino acids, essential fats, vitamins, key minerals, and trace elements, rare antioxidents, phospholipids, electrolytes, nuleic acids, enzymes and co-enzymes and can even balance the body's ph. So, all of this seems pretty amazing. My question is, would it be best to supplement with both marine phytoplankin and fulvic acid, or is one better than the other? I am confused because both seem superior to any man made vitamins. Please, any advice would be greatly helpful.

Hi Christa, My opinion is:

Either one is great by itself, but both *together* would be a wonderful combination IMHO, and both together are what I would take, if I could find the Phytoplankton somewhere.

Hi Christa, Well, I found and acquired pure Marine Phytoplankton (in capsules and with NO additives), and after weeks of comparative research between available suppliers, decided upon a 3-strain pure MP supplement (Holy Moses expensive! ) which I have now taken for 2 months. The taste and smell are awful IMO, although that will never stop me from taking a supplement if I think it may do me good.

While I can say the MP made a small difference, it makes nowhere *near* the quick and definite perceptible difference that good, pure broken-cell-wall Chlorella granules or powder do.. For me. The effect of the MP was much more gradual and far less pronounced. Because the difference was so small between taking and not taking the MP, I couldn't tell how long its effects lasted. While I could tell it was doing *something*, between MP and Chlorella, the Chlorella wins hands down. For me.

BTW Spirulina (pure powder) does just about nothing for me so I don't usually take that, although I keep it on hand just in case something changes in my physical responses- which has happened with different herbs, supplements etc. , several times over the years. Something my body won't respond to now may be required later.. So I have learned not to totally write anything off, ever..

I think each of the above 3 supps can be optimal for different people in different cases, and in different states of health. IOW the one that helps me may not be the one that helps you.

However, I am posting this in case it helps you or someone else.

About the Humic and Fulvic Acids, if they are bought as agricultural grades, I think one must be careful of sterilization when ingesting them, and when mixing them into solution with water that has been treated first with Sodium Thiosulfate to avoid problematic metabolites.

My jury is still out about Humic/Fulvic Acids and Shilajit. I will post somewhere on EC whenever I have reached a decision point ref those.

Stay well, Linda from SF
