Question About Capped Vs Uncapped Colloidal Silver

Posted By tfw1 (new boston, mi) on 08/31/2023

Can you explain the difference between capped vs. uncapped CS?

Couldn't find any info on your website about this concept.

Thank you for your kind reply

tfw1,

I use a capping agent for several reasons. One, it helps prevent the aggregation of the silver nanoparticles into larger, less effective or non effective particles, two it helps keep the batch stable and three it helps the AgNPs to make it through the rigors of the stomach intact. I suspect it also helps extend the useable life of the silver when you are dealing with higher ppm batches. There are many different capping agents and some are more effective than others.

When you look at studies using silver nanoparticles, they mostly use a capping agent of some type.

Can you guide what product is capped as you explained? I tried looking but it is overwhelming trying to break down or to determine what is what, etc. I have breast cancer, I read one of your post about your friend's sister using capped CS and it helped her. I am very much interested in researching more of this product. I am very familiar with CS, I have used it for years for UTI successfully. Thanks.

Hi Jetta,

Unfortunately most if not all manufacturers of colloidal silver (CS) do not say if their CS is capped. I am fairly certain that Earth Clinic's CS is capped with at least a mild capping agent. Generally, capping is frequently used in studies where they often mention exactly what capping agent they use, but it is a different story with commercial products.
