Avocados Okay for Those with High Cholesterol?

Posted By Kitti (Sterling, Tx) on 02/07/2013

Question for Ted. Just doing some research of foods high in lecithin and found that Nuts and avocados have high amounts of lecithin. Is it ok to be consumed for people with cholesterol? My husband who's on statins stopped consuming avocados as they are supposed to be high in cholesterol. Is that a myth? I also found out that egg yolks have lecithin and hence so far we've been consuming egg whites and throwing the egg yolks away. Ted, it'll be v. helpful if a food list of suitable foods to be consumed is also attached to the posts for all.

Avocados are rich in HDL - the good cholesterol. It also contains vitamin E.

If you want to increase your fat digestion, Drink Lemon Juice at least once a day after a full meal. This will control the cholestrol. Avoid white sugar.

Eating just egg whites is worse for anyone; eat the whole eggs; they have nothing to do with heart disease; they are the best form of protein. Avocadoes are wonderful for the heart and arteries.

Cholesterol is produced in the bodies of animals; therefore only meats and other animal products, such as eggs, cheese, and milk, contain cholesterol. Plant sources of food such as avocados are 100% cholesterol-free.
