Question about ph meter for alkalizing

Posted By Green Augustine (Mold, Denbighshire) on 06/08/2015

Hi Bill, having just read 'pH- Balance for life' twice. I have a couple of queries. I've Googled pH electronic meters in UK, and they seem to be mainly for swimming pools, soil etc. Sorry if I'm being a bit stupid, but is there a special sort for urine/saliva or do I get one for a pool? Also, does the potassium bicarbonate and potassium carbonate need to be food quality, as it seems to say it's for the garden ?

I will give you feedback on this very helpful book in another reply, but suffice to say for now, I found the book very informative and have learnt a lot, though I need to make notes to try and digest it all. And the links are interesting too, so thank you and Ted for that.

Hi Green Augustine...You want a meter that measures the pH of liquids, so a pool pH meter will do. There are many such pH meters being sold out there on the internet with large price variations -- see selections here and here. You don't need a pH meter that's too fancy or expensive.

The potassium carbonate and potassium bicarbonate should be lab or chemical grade. This is what I've been using, without any problems, for alkalizing over the last 10 years or so.
