Questions About Industrial vs Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth

Posted By Akhdar (Larkspur, Ca) on 01/24/2016

Hi, everyone! I'm a little nervous about taking diatomaceous earth although I am interested in adding it to my antiparasite regime. This may sound silly, but, given that the non-food grade DE is so hazardous, and the food grade so beneficial -- are there any reports of mixups between the two? For example, a company accidentally mislabeling the nonfood grade as food grade? It just seems that the consequences would be dire, and perhaps even fatal. Do most companies that create food grade DE even make the industrial kind? I would love to try it, but having received mislabeled bags of other items before on a smaller scale (decaf coffee instead of caffeinated, for example). I know that this sort of accidental mix-up is not a rarity. Does anyone else feel this sort of concern? Any reassurance would be much appreciated! Thank you!

I don't think this is a concern. Imagine the liability issues for a company that made a mistake. Just get it at a reputable store on online source. We have used it for years from various places. Never a concern or problem.

I had the exact same concern...i bought a bag of food grade de and it came in yesterday... I'm so excited to start taking it, but still have that uneasy feeling of "what if" it isn't labeled right....ugh :(
