Hydrotherapy Footbath and Smell of Chlorine

Posted By Dawn (Langley, Canada) on 10/18/2015

Interesting information thanks everyone. I bought a Q Energy spa after several treatments. I'm a believer and feel it will help prevent further disease. We brought the unit with us on a several month stay in Europe. My husband and I have noticed a strong chlorine smell after the treatment and the water definitely did not smell when filling the basin. Should we be concerned? What could it be from?

Thanks - Dawn

D: The spa could be removing excess chlorine from your body, or it could simply be the smell of negative ions generated by the unit. Negative Ion devices like foot-spas and air purifiers typically emit a chorine smell as the positive charged molecules or toxins are neutralized leaving that fresh, clean, scent.

You may also consider purchasing a negative ion air purifier for your home as indoor air quality is typically very poor in most houses.
