Libby!
Yeah, hi! I read your question with such vivid interest and wild curiosity- this is something that never once occurred to me- which is odd because I have had severe reactions to seafood, shellfish, et cetera.
I've been ingesting diatomaceous earth twice a day for almost 4 years with nothing but the most positive results. As this is a desiccated/fossilized diatom I never imagined there would be any viable substance left for me to experience any type of allergic reaction.
All that is left of this tiny organism after 5-10 million years is a crystallized mineral which is ground fine into a powder. That said, diatoms are not 'shellfish' or fish- they are microscopic organisms. I can't imagine you having a seafood-allergic reaction to this mineral.
I am not a doctor, if you have any doubts or fears, certainly ask an MD or a clinical dietician.
