Can I Take Ted's Alkalizing Formula with Food?

Posted By Acrane (Ms, Usa) on 08/11/2015

Ted says to take his alkalizing formula on an empty stomach. I only have a portion of my stomach and from the time I eat until my stomach is empty in 20 minutes. (Doctor tested and said I had dumping syndrome). I want to take the alkalizing formula for my arthritis and fibromyalgia but feel I must have something in my stomach. Some medicine or food taken on an empty stomach can make my heart erratic. Can you offer me a recommendation?

Hello Acrane. I don't know anything about what happens when you've had part of your stomach removed but I do know I took the alkalising formula a few weeks ago too soon after a meal and felt like death. Last week I read in 'Sodium Bicarbonate ' by M Sircus, that taking bicarbonate with a meal still in your stomach causes so much gas that your stomach can actually explode! Not a welcome outcome for anyone. I hope someone else can give you more detailed information, but in the meantime, proceed with caution.

Ted's alkalising formula has been a life saver for me with my digestive problems and the side effect has been to get rid of joint pain, so it's really worth trying. I was quite concerned the first time I took it, thinking I'd feel really nauseous taking it on an empty stomach! But my body just gave a huge sigh of relief as if this is what it'd been waiting for From day one! I hope this helps. Many blessings!

Hi Acrane...There are several bits of important advice on alkalizing that Ted has given on this site over the years. The following advice on alkalizing has been advocated by Ted.

You can take his baking soda + water remedy about 1/2 hour after you have finished eating your meal. The stomach's action on food finishes quickly and then the food is normally transferred to the duodenum for main stage digestion(which occurs in an alkaline environment).

The stomach mashes the food, pepsin starts protein digestion and the stomach acid kills all incoming pathogens with the food. The function of the baking soda is mainly to aid main stage digestion in the duodenum -- to help create the right environment -- which needs to be alkaline. For instance chemotrypsin, a key protease enzyme acting in the duodenum, needs a pH of 8.5(very alkaline) to do its job right. So the duodenum needs to be alkaline to digest the food properly.

So if you take baking soda + water 1/2 hr after you finish your meal this will act to strongly support main stage digestion in the duodenum. I'm as bad as anybody -- a few days ago I ate a large ribeye steak with all trimmings -- it was way too much!! About 45 mins after eating the steak, I knew I had done wrong. My guts were screaming. So to avoid further problems later I took a triple dose of pancreatic enzymes and took 1/2 tspn BS + water. Result was that half an hour later I felt just fine. And I slept like a baby that night.

The other lesson that Ted recommends is that you should eat smaller meals in general. Reason for this is that your stomach and pancreas can only produce so much HCL and pancreatic enzymes respectively -- so if you eat way too much(like I did with the steak) then two bad things happen:

* Not enough stomach acid to disinfect all that incoming food -- which is too much.

* Not enough pancreatic enzymes to digest all that food. Your duodenum is overloaded with food, which is only partially digested.

* Result? Undigested or stagnating food in your gut which is the perfect breeding ground for all those pathogens that weren't killed by too little stomach acid. This leads to much more serious problems later on down the timeline -- including serious autoimmune diseases.

The last piece of advice from Ted is that you should always eat your larger meals at breakfast or lunch. You should never eat a large meal after 5 or 6 o'clock in the evening. The reason for this is that your body goes into a different mode at night -- self-repair mode. This means that, at night while sleeping, your homeostasis repair and balancing mechanisms come into play to help recover the body from all that excess acidity, sugar etc. In fact, Ted has also mentioned many times that this is why heart attacks occur between about 11 pm and 3 am at night. The strain of repair becomes too much for the body while we sleep, so a heart attack ensues.

I generally eat my largest meal at breakfast in order to allow it to be digested properly throughout the day. I normally eat quite a small meal at night -- almost a snack -- so that my gut is not so radically over-burdened with undigested food when it switches into homeostasis repair mode at night. And quite often I will take a glass of bicarb and water at about 8 pm to aid digestion, to alkalize the gut and to alkalize the blood as well.
