Could you please recommend the best artifical sweetener to use.I thought splenda was safe but having read about the sucralose & its side effects, im really confused as to what to use. I have type 2 diabetes so I dont want to use ordinary suger. Is stevia safe? I would really appreciate your advice. Thanks Lena

Stevia is very safe. In fact, the major soda companies like Coca Cola are playing around with formulas to cola sweetened with Stevia. The problem is, of course, the terrible after-taste of stevia.  Xylitol also appears to be safe, without many side effects (except diarrhea if you eat too much) and doen't have much of an after-taste.

Why not try natural sweetners? There is nothing wrong with them if they are not heated or processed or chemically altered. For example stevia, molassis, honey and an unprocessed sugar of cane that can be obtained from health food shops.
