Question About Yeast Infections and pH Levels

Posted By Andrea (Co) on 05/31/2018

I would love for someone to explain this to me...my understanding is that the vaginal ph should be somewhere between 3.8 and 4.5, an acidic environment. When the ph goes outta whack the microbiome can be disrupted, or maybe the microbiome gets disrupted and the ph goes outta whack which then allows for yeast and pathogens to get out of balance and a yeast or bacterial infection can occur. Why then is a major treatment to both a yeast and bacterial infection ACV and Borax? ACV is alkalizing (I think) and Borax has a ph of like 9.3. Wouldn't that disrupt the vagina in a bad way??? But...these are well known treatments.

Can someone explain this to me?
