Would Manuka Honey Help Staph Infection Cellulitis?

Hello, my husband got a mosquito bite this past summer. It was intensely itchy, but he didn't scratch it. It was on the top of his foot, and his sandle rubbed it, causing it to rub open. It stayed very small (nickle sized) and wasn't really an open wound, just a red patch, until about 3 weeks ago, it started swelling, and got quarter sized.I made a charcoal paste, and also applied raw garlic to it, but it reacted badly, and the whole top of his foot swelled. We went to the doctor, and now he's on his 3rd antibiotic. It seems to finally be helping. It was diagnosed as a staph infection-cellulitis. Now there is no open wound, but it is still red and swollen. I am particularly interested in the manuka honey that I've heard about. Would it be effective if he took it internally? Thank you!

Dear Ruth,

I think that the manuka honey would likely be helpful taken internally. I recently dealt with staph/cellulitis in one of my children. (He had a skinned knee that was healing nicely and then suddenly it got infected.) I was treating it with turmeric and raw honey (internally), charcoal/flax/turmeric poultices overnight, colloidal silver (internally), and vitamin C. Healing was two steps forward and one step back (sometimes two steps back.) Then, after reading a new post at Earth Clinic about using Kefir for Staph (maybe it was MRSA?) I added kefir and raw manuka honey twice a day, and healing was swift after those additions. I was still doing everything else, too, though.

I would try a cup of milk kefir with a teaspoon of turmeric and a teaspoon of manuka honey, blended together (with a frozen banana if you like) twice a day, and see if that helps.
