Would garlic help ear infection from hole in eardrum

Ear infection: I have a hole in my eardrum (scar tissue from lots of tubs and infections as a kid) and want to know if anyone else in a similar situation has used garlic ear drops or something of the like. Thank you.

Dear Shannon,

It is generally not recommended to put anything into the ear when you have a hole in the eardrum.

But you can use a garlic clove at the opening of the ear. We have done this a number of time for ear pain and find it very effective.

Carefully peel a clove of garlic, one that is not so small that it would actually go into your ear canal, but not so big it would be uncomfortable sitting in the opening of your ear. Point the garlic clove into the ear and the rest of the garlic clove can rest in the outer ear. A bandana will keep it in place. You could do this for an hour or two a couple of times a day.

If you already have the garlic oil, you can always rub it in front of and behind the ear instead of what I described above. I would do that four times a day for an infection.
