Would Bearberry and Schisandra Chinensis Help Chronic Kidney Infection?

Posted By Vici (South Africa) on 10/12/2015

I have sufered all my adult life from bladder and kidney infection - my father died of renal failure, I also cannot get life insurance as the blood tests always come back with kidney disfunction and I have the signs on my finger nails of kidney disease but have not been diagnosed. A lot of itching which I do have is said to be a sign that the kidneys are not working properly. I know that there is something wrong, so I dont need a doctor to tell me as I can feel it in my body and my kidneys. I would have to change my diet to stave off any chronic disease.

I read that schisandra chinensis is a good herb for the liver and helps clean the blood and is an adaptogen which improves overall health and boosts the immune system. In South Africa I often use a product called DeWits bladder and kidney pills (turns urine blue or green - not sure what colour means acid) instead of antibiotics for my constant bladder infection. The pills contain bearberry and buchu extract. I have found this to be more useful than mainstream medication and works faster than pharmaceuticals. From what I understand the bearberry is better than cranberry. I am going to grow both the herbs for future use. I am going to give the bicarb and Apple Cider Vinegar a try to lower the acid levels.

Any thoughts on the bearberry and schisandra chinensis?

Hi Vici

Buchu is a wonderful remedy for kidney and bladder infections and is also excellent for arthritis and gout. Check how much buchu your remedy contains; you could also drink buchu tea (it tastes vile, but it works) or take the capsules. It is readily available in South African health shops. I haven't tried bearberry or schisandra, but I'd be most interested in your feedback. Good luck!
