In response to Karina fr London, UK (3-16-12) and anyone else with scalp issues.
For more than 5 years, I had a severe dandruff problem, it was so embarrassing. I washed my hair almost daily because I'm a runner. I was given every possible reason for it by Drs. and tried everything, including prescription shampoos, coal tar shampoos, supplements, etc. Nothing worked.
One day I came across a website which stated dandruff often a sign of sulfur deficiency. Good sulfur sources listed were onions, garlic, etc. Just so happen, I had followed a diet of eating that eliminated garlic and onion (I know, I know) so, I immediately fixed a meal that contained raw onions, and continued such. That was almost a year ago, and I haven't had any dandruff since. But even now, when I look up sulfur deficiencies, I don't find anything which states dandruff can be a sulfur deficiency. Due to computer crash, I don't have the website info where I found the information.
It worked for me, and I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am. Good luck, hope this helps. -Nancy

05/11/2012: Nancy: I found a website and there's loads others, it quite clearly states our highest concentration of sulphur is in our hair, skin and nails and dandruff can be one of the obvious signs you are deficient. I know sulphur has helped my son when he was tiny and I take it now myself in the form of MSM and is helping tremendously with my hair.
Keep up the garlic anyway, it's so beneficial. I can't imagine a diet that didn't allow garlic could be that good for you!!!
